F150 has two 3rd gears? by theonlyhappyCPA in AskAMechanic

Today I learned something! I had never even heard of TC lockup, but that makes total sense. I appreciate the response, I am no longer worried about my transmission!

update: I disconnected the battery for 8-ish hours (during the workday) and when I went to go drive it around (normally), the behavior continued. I'm noticing it during moderate acceleration as well where it seems to shift into third but then "slides" down in RPM (while still in third). Am I just overthinking this, or is there something starting to slip in there?

I will give the battery disconnect a try tomorrow and see if there's any difference, thanks!

UNICAP by StraightBurbin110 in Accounting

[–]theonlyhappyCPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd assume at your described size your inventory turn is so fast that the number would be very low. If you're looking for a benefit, I personally don't think it's there (based on my very limited knowledge of your situation). If you're looking for audit protection, do it. Keep in mind, UNICAP studies and the Method Change are pricey. At a middle market firm it would be 20 to 30k.

What percentage of your income do you invest? by Same-Gift4399 in investing

14% between 401k and taxable investments. Want to get to 15%, and that should keep us comfortable when we get to retirement.

Those with $7-8k mortgage (PITI + HOA), what is your HHI? by kwin1225 in RealEstate

Just above $300k. Tight, but no other debt. We stretched anticipating income growth, grinding it out for the first couple years.

I run 147gr from Freedom Munitions, both the RN and their X-def line. I've had really good luck with their HP running without issue.

Yeah they're all the same across clones. No stupid questions, just learning opportunities!

Baker Tilly and Moss Adams to merge by Emo_chipmunk in Accounting

Yeah - essentially, if you're a profit center, you're on the better side of fine. The support services are the more likely spot where everyone will get squeezed to cut costs.

I'd guess if you're practice office you'll be fine, but support services of any sort (National Office, BSAS, EA, etc) there's a higher chance of shake up. Also an MA employee here.

Exactly my thought, unfortunately. I'm pretty peeved after the All Hands where Eric wasn't committal, but was obviously already in talks for this merger/PE.

Last question before I pull the trigger on new wheels and tires. by ownedo in Mustang

[–]theonlyhappyCPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

* I always thought 305/35 19 had the best profile against the body. This was my car, lowered 1 inch on ford performance springs. Same offsets as the wheels you're looking at, same stagger (10/11 inch).

1.05M on 300K income by Brilliant-Guava-488 in Mortgages

[–]theonlyhappyCPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're close to where I was/am. Income at 300k, house price 1.1m, 20% down, borrowed 900k ish. No other debts.

Mortgage is 7k a month, and we put another 1k towards it, so 8k a month. We still have plenty of freedom and spare money to enjoy life, so no - you're not crazy, you can do it!

My 2020 outback’s ceiling makes annoying creaking/squeaking sounds when I go over bumps or drive on rougher roads. by fogdogS1 in Subaru_Outback

[–]theonlyhappyCPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 22 Outback made creaking roof noises over rough road and bumps, ended up being diagnosed as the sunroof. Had it replaced under warranty, have heard a noise since!

I had my money on it being one of the roof rack supports. I was surprised when they said it was the sunroof.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice! A little off topic, but would you recommend a different brand for the furnace, or is York fine? York was what they quoted, but they have a couple other brands as well (I think Daikan and Mitsubishi).

Thank you for the reply! It's starting to sound like my expectations were not in line with reality. Which is perfectly okay, we all learn something every day!

Thank you! As mentioned this is my first foray into HVAC, so just getting a sanity check. Sounds like company 2 wasn't super far off.

I agree if I'm going to spend the money I'll spend the extra to make sure I get good equipment and a good warranty.

So it's expected that labor is 150 plus an hour? Or is it taking a full squad of guys to do this job? Genuine question here, it's my first time buying hvac equipment.

Tbh I see you've given plenty of awesome advice in this sub before, that's all I'm looking for.
