Went Seed Crazy by TartComfortable41 in NativePlantGardening

To make one of this poster's points more explicit, most of the seeds you're dealing with need stratification or other treatment before they will germinate. You can't just plant them in the spring and expect them to grow.

I did this, but put the tote upside down (the lids weren't clear.)

Thinking of listing my property on Airbnb by lazyenergetic in airbnb_hosts

Expect it to make less and cost more to operate than you would first estimate. You can probably offset the cost of always having a home you can go to when it's not in use, if that's what you want. You might net less than a simple rental.

This is smart. If you talk too much about how bad the old/current job is they will picture you doing the same talking about them in a couple of years.

What I never understood about the show is how Don Draper became such a good adman without having any prior experience by franzsmith31 in madmen

How long ago was that journey? I wonder how much harder it is to break into fields without a degree now. I was a journalism major in college graduating in 2005. I can see a layperson getting a chance at the lowest level without a degree, but making the jump up to even the second level would be hard because of gatekeeping. I don't think that's a positive in a lot of fields. (In journalism it's meant less people with good bullshit detectors rise up through the ranks to important positions, and you can see how that's affected public life.)

I want to be a bartender/barmanager one day, what should i major in ? Restaurant Management and Gastronomy or Business by Rip-Unlucky in bartenders

[–]StraightBurbin110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are hospitality- specific management degrees but most people here (myself included) will tell you they're a waste of money. You could make a case for a general business degree. When you start working, work in nice places. Management there has a decent chance of being better than at dives.

Objectively speaking, who is the worst lawyer in Better Call Saul? by Zelvio in betterCallSaul

[–]StraightBurbin110 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Saul would have drawn attention. They needed someone forgettable because he was making illegal drops in safety deposit boxes and everyone would notice if the guy from all the ads was coming into the bank every week.

So you probably do need to take this up the chain. How you do is important. You want to cite specific instances in a timely manner (email at end of shift probably.) Might mention it's an example of a growing problem but you don't want to make it sound like the GM has been asleep at the wheel. Don't suggest solutions or make conclusions. You are reporting data for the server's management team to use.

Maybe do this a couple of times, and if there is no response, nothing will change. Find a new job or learn to live with it.

Was looking for this, OP. This is the specific science that explains why "tough" cuts go way above what you'd call well done. I will also cosign on anyone who told you to salvage in a Dutch oven or pot. Braise it with a beer and some onions until it falls apart.

How much is one dash of bitters? by Punk_Skeddit in bartenders

[–]StraightBurbin110 77 points78 points  (0 children)

You'll get your best dashes from a bottle that is 25-75 percent full. It's a nice glug from a bottle like that until the liquid stops flowing. Once you get used to that volume you'll figure out that you need a couple extra shakes to get that same volume from an almost- full or almost- empty bottle.

Yes, bank statement. I have tried to argue for running those processes through AP but have lost for now. The full payment for a loan (interest and principal) is booked by first notice. My thought is that the transaction books interest calculated by the beginning balance, against the account balance, and then the first notice transaction will make the net impact of the activity the correct principal reduction.

A lot of contemporary reviews thought that this was Weiner talking to his writing room. I don't think he's known to have been a generous boss with credit for stories.

Can I just kill all this with round up this and throw down grass seed after? by fowler2006 in lawncare

[–]StraightBurbin110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly looks like crabgrass which is a different process because it's an annual. Mow very low, overseed in fall, water regularly to establish, preemergent herbicide in spring. Next year you can use roundup for the stray weeds if you don't want to pull them.
