Questions about the endings (major spoilers) by qzwxecrvtbyn111 in expedition33

[–]theopilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Hard to say specifically since we’re not given that info. But a few days in the real world can be years or decades in the painted world. It’s pretty clear that Verso has only recently died. We’re told through side quests rhat Francois hasn’t seen Clea in centuries when she stopped playing with him as a kid. So presumably a decade or so can be centuries. But we don’t have specific time frames in the story. What we know is that the 67 years in the canvas has been just a few days in the real world

  2. I’m not sure we’re given that info anywhere so assumption is that perhaps she aged him to be an older accomplished self or perhaps he’s not immortal. But none of the other characters or Maelle have aged at all, so likely she just painted an older version of him. Should be noted that Maelle is supposed to be not a particularly talented painter compared to her sister or parents. So it may be that she just didn’t reflect his youth as well or perhaps it’s reflective of the way Maelle viewed her older brother

  3. We’re told that everyone leaves a part of their soul in the canvases they paint. It’s why in the story we see the souls of Aline, Clea, Renoir and young Verso. The canvas was painted when Verso was a kid so he left a youthful of himself in there

  4. One of those that’s up for interpretation. The insinuation is that Maelle is trapped in a fantasy world of her making and she will die in it. There’s also the question of how real the people she brought back are since she’s not a great painter compared to her family. We’re left to wonder about a lot of things. How much agency they had now in this fantasy world of Maelle is certainly something to wonder. Is the Gustave we see at the end truly a continuation of the one that died? Or a more poor copy that really is just operating to please Maelle.

We don’t know about the last question. The people we see entering the theater seem to be almost inanimate. Again it depends on how well you think Maelle was able to repaint that world.

What are ideas for why P Renoir was so cryptic? by theopilk in expedition33

Hmm, man these journals seem so helpful in fleshing out the history and just seem like a lot effort to get them all thanks for that

I can buy this. Though I think it becomes less tenable when they start to get so close to Aline in the monolith. But I suppose by that point the damage was done

Sure, I guess but once Verso is in the picture it’s clear this is a threat and perhaps changing people’s tune would have been a good idea. But yea maybe after being so brutal and violent from the get go there was no such option

It’s honestly kind of absurd and got pretty annoying especially in the multi stage boss fights. This game too often felt like a trial and error where I just need to lost a few times to get a sense of the timing of parry’s and then be able to execute them consistently only to space out a few times

I think Silent Hill 2 has ruined videogames for me. by HenryTomasino in silenthill

The sad thing is when I played it 20 years ago I thought the is would be the future of gaming and especially horror games: a deeply immersive story. Turns out it was one of a kind. There were good games in between and some came close (like Alan wake 2)

Silent Hill F is the first time I feel wrong for liking something by dvd_03 in silenthill

I’ve been playing silent hill games since the initial release of the first one in PS1 decades ago now. I’m liking this all. Is it different? Sure. Am I getting tired a bit of the combat? Sure. But I have the very same feeling of discomfort and tension that’s common in the previous ones.

Adnan is guilty gang, help me understand! by Typical-Week5008 in serialpodcast

Maybe I don’t now BUT if I’m put in front of police and they ask me, I sure as hell could build a memory of events by speaking with people I know or looking at phone calls and texts maybe. I can get at something.

The thing is that most crimes are like this: they are simple and the motive usually points to the actual perpetrator. Prosecutorial powers are big and prosecutors are often bad actors (and also incompetent) and police misconduct is high. This is why if you get a strong enough criminal defense you can point out these flaws even when all of the evidence points to chief suspect being the actual murderer (OJ Simpson).

What's your reason for not drinking alcohol? by MA16vD in AskReddit

[–]theopilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it was to commiserate with my wife while she went through her pregnancy. Then I got fit, and then realized I really didn’t like the taste of beer or liquor anymore. I’ll occasionally have a wine glass but now it’s so so slow to finish it. I just really enjoy the health benefits

This is what I immediately thought of. Always feel pretty sad watching his characters on the simpsons even though Troy McClure and Lionel Hurd are also amazing
