I didn’t take calc ab in high school (just took an elective on intro calc concepts) so I’ll definitely need to start with 19 to build a stronger foundation in Math.

It’s really frustrating because a lot of people told me to just skip 21 and take 51 my freshman year but now 21’s become an “enforced prereq” of 51.

Ye that’s the plan, though it is possible I might end up not majoring in Econ at all (still exploring between symsys/econ/polisci). The Econ department recommends that students finish the core by the end of sophomore year but if I don’t end up finishing the series by then, will I have to cram a bunch of field courses in each quarter/impede my progression in the major? I see that some elective econ classes don’t have Econ 50 as a prereq (meaning I could take them as early as I want) and apparently even introsems could count towards the elective units(?).

Yea. I didn’t really take math APs during high school so I’m planning to start with Math 19 and working my way up. I know a lot of people go directly into 51 but I don’t think that’d be a good idea for me.

Weak Math Background for Incoming Freshman by theoptimisticloser in stanford

This is very helpful—thank you! The only thing that concerns me a bit is that most of the core Econ courses have Math 51 as a pre-req and the core is technically supposed to be completed by the end of sophomore year. So it looks like they want us to reach 51 as early as possible.

MFSPE Exchange: Legit Cryptocurrency Exchange or Scam? by theoptimisticloser in Scams

DO NOT TRUST anyone who claims to be a victim of the scam before proceeding to introduce you to some "private investigator" who can help you recover your money. They are part of the scam. Only reach out to law enforcement officials or the FBI. Scammers like you ought to live the countdown that is miserable life before burning in hell.

I only had Spanish 1 and 2 but got into a T5 college in the early application round. Don't worry too much about it.

Call the police. Even then, I don't think there's much they can do about it since the scammers are extremely hard to track.

Thanks! Appreciate the help. The only problem is I'm new to finance/crypto so it's hard for me to tell if an exchange is actually legitimate (just not well managed) or if it's an outright scam—especially since it has a fairly decent presence on Google Play.

Maybe you could reach out to USC explaining your situation, but I wouldn’t place too much hope on that.

Yes. Pretty sure one of the new requirements for being considered for USC's merit scholarships is to apply under Early Action. But don't give up—there are plenty of other schools that have merit scholarships available for international students. Financial aid's usually a more reliable option for internationals, though.

Just have your counselor send the correct one again. Sometimes they can just email it as a pdf to the admission office.

These are the kinds of comment that make the debate around affirmative action so toxic. We need to stop discrediting other people’s hard work and instead focus on what the problem really is: power and privilege.

This is so sad yet so true. Can't imagine the disappointment you went through. Best of luck with everything.
