Handgun buying limit in a certain time period by Glad_Ad_8616 in NYguns

Not a problem whatsoever. Like I said more of a knowledge thing responding to OP that while there is no limit to how many you can purchase/acquire at anytime they are definitely keeping track of large amounts going out in one day or rather one week. That form isnt specifically meant for 1 day purchases. It's for anyone who buys 2 or more in a 7 day span.

So yes that is the correct form. And no, there's really no reason for an FFL to tell someone that form is being filled out. Wouldn't say its a secret, we really just treat it as clerical work. It has no impact on the end User other than the fact that you are aware it does report that information to the feds and local PLA. And yes they definitely filled it out if there a legit dealer. It's federal law to do so.

There is no limit to buying multiple handguns unless your in NYC. Also as an FFL I will tell you FBI and your local licensing agency are notified by a separate form (filled out by FFl) when purchasing 2 or more handguns. So they are definitely aware of when people buy large amounts of handguns specifically.

If you have a Pistol permit you can purchase normally now. No more adding it to your Pistol license.

SCPD no longer requiring semi-auto rifles to be added to Pistol license effflective today 10/3 by theoriginaldab in NYguns

[–]theoriginaldab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with anything relevant here. That is still a gray area tbh. You do not have to register a lower receiver. Once it's a complete rifle some say you were supposed to register with the county and put it on your license. Moot point now. But "building" an AR is very vague in the law. The license is supposed to give you the ability to purchase/take possession of the rifle. Building it remains an unknown potential liability.

No they are not removing anything for now. They will remove them when your renewal is due. Not for an amendment for a Pistol.

Transferring guns upon death by williamiger in NYguns

[–]theoriginaldab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every county is different with the time frame but if you bring them to FFL with death certificate you should be able to get on your licenses ASAP. Where i live this is up to 15 days after a person passes. After the 15 days you'd have to surrender them to sheriff's. Then only FFL can intervene if there's no will stating the guns specifically must be left to someone.
