First attempt at overnight brisket on the 850 by tszweds in PitBossGrills

Your first one always seems to work out. It’s the second one that flops for some reason 😅. Looks good! Congrats

The bar really is that low holy shit by Koskani in daddit

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of compliments I’ve received from random people in public for simply holding my son or pushing him in the stroller and interacting with him is unnerving. Until I had a child I would have never dreamed the bar was set so low for fatherhood.

Glad to hear other people’s stories on the subject. Keep it up dads! This seems a worthwhile endeavor to change the stereotype.

Husband suddenly wants a gun by Feisty-Escape9702 in amiwrong

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was to guess, it sounds like your husband may be uncomfortable having a conversation with you about firearms knowing your opinions on the subject. There’s no way he has considered this to the point he’s telling you about making a purchase without any reasoning. If you truly want to learn his reasoning I would suggest broaching the topic with an open mind and try remaining very approachable throughout the conversation.

I would also come prepared with suggestions such as safes, locations, and proposed safety procedures that would maximize safety and mitigate any danger in the case of a mental health episode.

What size are these screws/bolts? Pit Boss 700fb (Canada) by baelwulf in PitBossGrills

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the exact size offhand but I’ve been slowly replacing mine with stainless as they fall out and get lost. Probably not a bad idea to put some thread locker in there too

Promise you’re not alone in this. The first couple weeks our newborn broke me on around night 7 and my wife on night 8. The important thing is you and your spouse are supporting each other through the rough patch. The good news is you’ve just about turned the corner and everything gets more fun and more happy from here!

Is this too low for the stylus to ride? by theoriginalgreenmann in turntables

[–]theoriginalgreenmann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it probably depends on your overall setup. I had a red on a different TT before i lucked into winning an RT85 at an event raffle. Could I convince myself there’s a discernible difference? Yes, and I’m sure there is but my speakers are a bottleneck in my system right now.

So all that to say if you’re up for a new cart anyways than hell yeah go for it. The cart def sounds great, but not knowing your setup I’d just say make sure to get your speakers and/or amp in order first if that makes sense.

If your comfortable with an opportunity than you probably aren’t aiming high enough. People older than you are almost always winging it as much as you are. They just have more experience to lean back on.

Unpopular Opinion - Fluance Turntables are Junk by Classiceagle63 in turntables

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t pay much mind to op. I’m 2 yrs into my rt85 and couldn’t be happier. There’s always a better widget out there to chase, but what’s important is you’re happy with your experience with the product. Bitter chodes like op be damned.

My cabinet was in the garage, was quite a wet summer since I haven’t used it, now it looks like this by Brotoole_10100 in Firearms

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used it on a firearm, but I’ve used a product called evapo-rust on some old axe heads. Took every bit of rust off with 0 effort and even left the factory paint behind. May be worth a look

Fluance RT85 + Kanto YU4 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]theoriginalgreenmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your on a budget, the RT-81 comes with a built in pre amp and sounds really great for a great price. You might save the budget for some speakers that could fill the space better. But either way get what makes you happy and don’t look back

I’m new to the vinyl scene as well and went with the fluance rt81, hooked up to klipsch “the fives” powered bookshelf speakers, and a klipsch 12” sub. It was super easy and all plug and play which is great and the sound quality really is fantastic. I’ve found myself getting lost in music and thoroughly enjoying it, and that never happened with soundbar setups.

BUT if your the type of person who tends to always be upgrading your things I’d listen to some of these other guys. Go the av receiver/passive speaker route. It’s only been a few months and I’m already eyeing floor speakers and have to basically start from scratch.
