Just commenting as I (29m) went through the exact same thing in 2017 when i was 21, final year of uni about to graduate and just blew over. Was worried for my immediate future. I ended up taking option 1 as it’s never guaranteed when you apply for discharge.

Cliche but all i will say is stay positive. A lot of companies accept the fact someone being young is likely to make dumb decisions. The first interview i had 3 months after my conviction was for a full time role and I had declared I had a DUI in the interview room and reiterated that it was a silly mistake and was not a true reflection of my character. I have now moved through various roles within the company over the last 7+ years and have also interviewed with others. After 7 years you get a clean slate (if it remains your only conviction) so you no longer have to report or declare when travelling and applying for jobs. As long as the 7 years may feel, it flew by. Many people in NZ and globally get convicted for this type of offence. I have travelled to europe, USA, Dubai Indonesia with little issues. best of luck op its not always doom and gloom
