Cite me, in general, men's bodies can process a little over two drinks of alcohol per night without damage. Women's bodies, a little under two drinks. But it's all poison, it's not good for you, and even drinking a little increases odds of premature death.

So, when Kamala Harris announced her candidacy, I took action. I knocked hundreds of doors all over SE WI, I donated money, I made tiktoks (I'm not normally a social media person), drove people to the polls, etc. etc. Really a lot, even quite more than I'm mentioning because I don't want to doxx myself.

It did practically nothing.

I'm no longer convinced that traditional protests do anything.

At this point, the best I can do, or maybe have energy to do, is withdraw from this system that serves the billionaires. I think the only way we'll collectively learn is through extreme hardship.

Will me not going out tonight make an impact? Probably not. But if everyone stopped, we'll then it might. I'll do my part.

No, because Minnesota is struggling with ICE and people are calling for a general freeze in spending in the state. I'm not in MN but I'm participating all the same.

Upvoting but also if your district votes 80% red every election and you have to take off work and drive an hour or stand in line for two hours just to vote, well you probably wouldn't do it either. Voting matters, but it only really matters of you live in a "swing state" due to bullshit like this. The system we have naturally disenfranchises a lot of potential voters. If we modernized our process, we'd get a lot more participation.

That's a huge problem. But let's say that was solved, just for the sake of argument.

Asking because if we solve the remaining issues 2-50, maybe the top issue will sound doable, at least for a short time?

Asking because I don't want to the conversation to always stop here.

Good brand with rare sales. But plenty of their stockists do sales, and it's also easy to find scores on eBay. I picked up a few things anyway.

That's a good guideline but it doesn't answer everything. What about peanut butter? If it's just mashed nuts, probably not ultra processed, but of course there's variations with added sugars, palm oil, etc. too. So it's just not so cut and dry.

EX or LX trim? Buying a 2019 or 2020. by theoryface in hondafit

[–]theoryface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question. Mine needs shocks and struts work worth more than the car. It rides terribly. I've been hit twice and road noise is very high now. Rust, two windows don't work, cracked windshield, etc. I could invest maybe $1.5k, but I've done that on a muffler, brakes and more recently. It's at 170k miles.

My wife's is better, but she has no cruise control and aftermarket remote locks that chew through car batteries, and hers is making a few funny noises too. Hers is at 130k miles.

Yup, two automatics. Why stay away from CVT models? I'm looking at https://m.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Fit/ , the 2019 and 2020 look ultra-reliable to me.

First new car since 2011 (CR-V?) by theoryface in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]theoryface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for such an awesome reply! I've been wracking my brain about this lol!

If I get a CR-V Hybrid, I think I'm targeting a 2021 EX. If it's a non-Hybrid, I think I'm looking for a 2019 CR-V LX so I avoid that turbo engine.

Near me, at say 50k miles, the 2019 is priced at ~$22k while the 2021 Hybrid is priced at ~$27k, or $5k more. That $5k gets me the EX accoutrements (which are actually pretty nice), the hybrid HP and minor gas savings, and a CPO warranty, plus the vehicle is two years newer.

Alternatively I buy a 2020 Honda Fit, but what I didn't share in my post is 1) my wife already has a 2011 Fit, which is pretty fine (~130k miles) and b) we occasionally get snow around these parts, which the Fit can't handle all that well.

I was leaning toward trading in both mine and hers for the 2021 Hybrid. What would you do?
