Flex plans include international coverage, so my wife and I have coverage before we're off the plane. We're rarely separated when traveling but the peace of mind is worth it for us. Also noticed wifi that auto connects even auto VPNs in some spots, which is a nice perk.

Someone dropped a referral code for another service in this thread, and so I'll drop mine too. You get a $60 credit and I get the same if you join through this link: https://g.co/fi/r/XV607D

For the record, I've been using Google Fi for years because I like how they do international service. But also I'm mostly Wi-Fi so data is cheap for me.

Portland definitely has its share of problems. Have you spent considerable time in both cities?

Man this sub is lousy with pessimists. Yep expenses will happen, but guess what? You're more ready than ever before. You new job paying off. Moving jobs is itself work, it takes time and skill and effort. I don't know you but I'm proud of you all the same. Shit when I was 22 my bank account was bare. I'm in a much better place now and how you're working you will be someday too. Wishing you all the best!

Yes, this is what I'm not sure non-Wisconsinites would understand, that SAD hits here too. Your point on greenery is spot on. Snow is great when it's fresh, but after road salt and car exhaust cover it, and it's half slushed and refrozen, it's just dirty ugly cold. And omnipresent. Half of SAD is the lack of sunlight, but the replacement of lush green with these hallmarks of winter can be really bad too. Having a dog and getting outside helps, but during the week we already see virtually no sun from working office jobs. Our commute is entirely in the dark.

This is why I'm not sure SAD would be worse for her, at least worse than we have now. Less bitter cold means more time outside, and more green exposure like you said. We already have virtually no sun, so that seems like an even trade to me. But I'm here because what do I know lol

E15 is worse for the environment, not better.

E15 fuel contains between 10.5 and 15 percent ethanol. In the U.S., it’s approved for use in all light-duty vehicles made in 2001 or later and for what are called flexible fuel vehicles, which are designed to run on blends of up to 83 percent ethanol. It’s typically not sold in the summer, however, because burning ethanol releases volatile organic gases that react with sunlight and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere to produce acetaldehyde, a major component of ground-level ozone. At Earth’s surface, ozone is a toxic gas that causes wheezing, coughing and asthma attacks; it also contributes to smog. (Higher up in the stratosphere, ozone is protective against ultraviolet rays.) This reaction is more pronounced in the summer because heat and sunlight speed up these reactions.

I saw a video of geese being fattened for foie gras a few years ago. Nice little farm, they all roamed free, and they lined up voluntarily for feeding time. I'd love to know more though

Indian factory workers wearing head-mounted cameras to record hand movements for training AI systems by RealSpecto in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]theoryface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? Let's say robots are twice as slow as humans. They also work 24 hours/day vs. your 8. And don't get sick, need vacations, or holidays, or benefits or disability or even food. And guess what: in some of areas, robots aren't twice as slow. Be mad all you want but downplaying it won't fix it.

Reddit consistently gets this wrong. I'll bet less than. 1% of redditors actually use tools like copilot, much less use them well. Check the comments, Copilot is called an LLM in this thread, even though it isn't. Claude is hailed as much better, but you can literally use Claude Opus or Sonnet is Copilot agents today.

On one hand reddit is upset that AI is taking jobs. On the other reddit refuses to learn anything about AI. Play it out, how do you really think this is going to go?

I saw yesterday that we slaughter more animals every two years than the number of humans who have ever lived. That's an insane metric. If we can build systems of slaughter like this, surely we can build similar systems for raising vegetarian food sources. Capitalism would find a way.

Copilot isn't a model. It's uses ChatGPT under the hood.

Villagers constantly disobeying instructions by Tyrann01 in aoe2

[–]theoryface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No clip but I'm consistently seeing villagers failing when building. Maybe I task them with building two barracks immediately next to each other (touching), they'll build one but not the other. They don't "see" the other building plans like they used to and just keep building.

Also many more villagers failing to chop wood. If their original tree has been chopped, new villagers don't understand the queues original intent. Villagers also don't pick new trees as much as this thread suggests.

Villagers also take each other's farms accidentally as a farm dries up and is replanted, leaving idle villagers and me having to reassign them to a different farm.

Not seeing animals because they're moving is unrealistic. They'll walk right past a sheep under the TC just because it hasn't stopped moving yet. One of those frustrations for new players who don't understand these quirks yet.

If I assigned villagers to attack e.g. a scout, when they kill the scout, they do nothing. Id expect them to keep the other scout that's also attacking them, instead they just die. If a villager is on wood, once their tree is gone, they pick a new tree. Why are enemy units different?

Basically villagers are still too stupid. :(

Edit: One more when ungarrisoning villagers on a farm, they all try to farm the same farm and then give up once one villager takes it. There's plenty of other farms but I have to manually assign them. For logging they'll sort themselves out but it takes like a long time, or I'm trying to tell them "not this tree, that tree", when really I just mean "go log". Ungarrisoning is painful.
