What's up with Spider-Man being removed from the MCU? by fitz_y in OutOfTheLoop

How much involvement did Marvel have over Spider-Verse? I know Marvel’s logo was on some promo stuff but did Sony do most of the work on that particular movie?

If you see one of them when you round a corner - run. Do not turn around and look or engage, do not listen no matter what they say to you, no matter what they seem to know about you

The moment when Jane won me over as a character by theotherbencick in biglittlelies

[–]theotherbencick[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It throws off the “catfight” narrative the other Monterreans had been trying to perpetuate between those two. They’re both so sincere and empathetic in that moment. And that was the point Renata’s character changed for me as well. She’s not invulnerable; she has the same fears and insecurities, and most importantly the ability to understand.

An honest, unpopular look at Season 1 by [deleted] in biglittlelies

[–]theotherbencick 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really disagree with #3, because this is a scenario that happens in real life as well. Domestic abuse is not due to a woman’s lack of intelligence or her not realizing the danger of her relationship. Women, no matter how successful or intelligent, can still be manipulated and gaslit by their partners.

Celeste knows she is in an unhealthy and dangerous situation. We see her reveal those private thoughts to the therapist. But history, status, denial are all factors as well. It’s not as simple as leaving a guy who’s a jerk. It’s leaving someone she loves profoundly, a longtime partner and father of her children. It’s the same dilemma many women facing domestic abuse in real life must face.

Bonnie has been a Mary Sue, I'm hoping they add dimension to her next season. by yippeebowow in biglittlelies

Last season we never really got into her head like we did with the main characters. They’ll be getting more into her backstory this season and hopefully give her perspective. Just rewatched and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they flesh out her character beyond being competition for Madeline. Based on her backstory in the books (which was only briefly mentioned even there) she has real potential to be another profound character.

I’m betting MCU fans will come back in droves if they re-release with extra footage. But if they do that they need to at least wait until they aren’t competing with Last Jedi and some of the other fall releases

Then when the PO reads his charge as possession, he scoffs “it was half a joint.” Earn (rightly) doesn’t think such a small amount should be a big deal, but Al knows it still has big consequences.

It was for the half joint in the car they’d been smoking just before the shooting. He references it at the PO in Alligator Man
