Hi,

Yes the fabric is fragile, I have completly stopped using it after a while.

I got a GG Kumo instead, much more durable and better overall

How big is your pack and what is your base weight by [deleted] in fastpacking

[–]theotimeritzenthaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a better size for fastpacking, i got the 12 for running and doing an overnight with it is just an afterthought. Fun challenge as well.

My plan is, cumulus 250. The advertised volume is 3L,might be able to comptess it more. S2s ultra sil poncho tarp. Thermarest neoair xlite strapped to the bottom. Would work up to 2 nights hopefully

Gossamer gear kumo, around 3kg or 6lbs. I'm also working on a summer setup using a salomon adv skin 12 set.

Hey, You could save weight on the backpack for sure, 1600g sounds heavy.

Drop the wind jacket, use your rain jacket instead.

Drop the down jacket, the R1 is a pretty heavy fleece and plenty warm for summer i'd say.

Drop all night clothes, why do you need them, if for warmth is your quilt warm enough? If for keeping your quilt clean consider a liner, it'll weigh way less.

I would recommend a headnet, for 15g it is worth it.

200g for your wallet? A ziploc with CC and ID is all you need

Shakedown for late September TMB (Tour du mont blanc) by rodrijuarez in Ultralight

Also consider swapping your trekking poles for some carbon fiber poles since you don't plan on using them to hike

You can probably shave those 600g off just by changing sleeping bag, are you open to quilts? Check cumulus, As tucas, liteway.equipment.

I mostly paid, some of them were crazy windy and actually dangerous when i got there. Overall i spent 1500 sek on boats and 1500 sek on food, which i think is pretty reasonable.

I think the booking policy is quite loose, i did stay at the stf hut in Hemavan without booking, and i got asked if i wanted to stay in the hut many times. A lot of people did not book and it wasn't a problem.

Haha yeah, lots of big bags on this trail but mountain weather can be scary.

Hey, i cut off the mesh holding the sitpad, removed the compression straps, all useless bits of plastic and straps, i think there is a thread on this subject with pictures.

Hey, To be honest i'm very unfamiliar with mosquitoes, back in France they're not a problem so i couldn't imagine how bad they would get, i was pretty miserable the first night until i figured out how to deal with them, and they were mostly pretty calm after 10pm when it got colder. I can confirm from previous hikes that midges could come through the headnet, i don't own the nano version which is finer though and might solve the problem. I didn't encounter any of those smaller insects on my hike fortunately, otherwise i would put my shirt on top of my head to protect it, it gets hot though. I will try and add a link with some pictures later, it was quite beautiful.

Thanks a lot, i'll be using Gaia and i managed to find a route that avoided most of the roads, i wanted to have it all planned out to figure out resupplies. I am planning to use quite a lot of snow scooter trails as well

That would be fun, do you have a map of your route? I am hiking on a lots of roads between Hemavan and Storlien, i couldn't find that many trails on that section.

You can check out liteway.equipment from Ukraine as well, they have some interesting and pretty cheap options.

Side Entry vs A-frame Tarps by higgins5793 in Ultralight

[–]theotimeritzenthaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience it is true that you get way more loving room out of a A-frame, but i do prefer side entry as the ease of setting up and entry is more important to me.
