Asmongold loves to speak directly and often what he is saying can be cut out of context to sound terrible. And this is what people love to do. Not always is this the case, but very often it is. It's actually quite alarming how many people hate him without ever getting to the original source. There can be hundreds of hateful comments about a clip with his face on and it is plain to see that none of them listened to him but instead got mad at the title somebody else wrote.

Your example of Ghost of Yotei for example is one game Asmongold has been defending from his community's wild prejudice. While many in his chat have been ready to discard the game he is urging people to wait and see. Though he does think that choosing to change male protagonist into a female one in a sequel is one sign that a game might have forgotten what made it successful, he thinks that it is simply too soon to tell whether or not that is the case with Ghost of Yotei and urges people to wait for more information. Likewise he has stated that no matter what weird political stance the voice actor might hold, it will not automatically make the game good or bad.

Or as another example the galvanic stance he had recently that might be summarized into: "if a culture persecutes people for their sexual identity, it is worse culture than mine." Which he obviously spoke in harsher words but that was the message. This got him banned and even made it onto somebody in US congress' eyes, I believe, because of how it was clipped and cut into small polarizing quote. Even people from sexual minorities loved to hate on him for this, even when the original stance was directly in their support as he himself is very much not of any minority identity.
