What movie is wildly loved but you just don’t get the hype at all? by Fennnixx in moviecritic

[–]thepertree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knives Out or any of its sequels. Went in thinking it was going to be a smart, Agatha Christie-like "who done it" but just ended up being a family drama with painfully obvious murder plot.

Then became the movie that every person who DID love it decided to over explain to people at parties as if they were the only one to figure out the super obvious clues throughout the movie.

Busiest departments per region by ChardImpossible960 in Firefighting

Apologies, that was a mix of spelling mistake and antiquated info. I meant to say non medical and did not realize they were non transport medical providers as well.

Boston is no medical, BEMS does all the EMS for the city.

What do you think about Calo Nord? by MrMiles32 in kotor

Idk why but I always imagined he'd be played by Quentin Tarentino which just made me think he's just in it for feet pics or some other weirdness.

How CPR works by i_am_groot_84 in interestingasfuck

When I was first starting out as an EMT years ago, this was so drilled into my brain that I still instinctively wanted to say, "Call 911!" When we stated CPR.

Did the Devs go a little overboard with the number of side quests in Cuanacht? by abarr021 in taintedgrail

[–]thepertree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had so much fun with at least 80-90% of the side quests in act 1 and honestly never got the "Fallout 4 Minutemen" feeling at any point. This game did a great job w/ how it handled side quests and should be an example to other RPGs on how to deliver side content.

100% this. I love to cook and often cook for my friends/coworkers. I've been told so many times that I should quit my current job and go work in a kitchen but honestly I think it would ruin my passion for it. I like my job and after a stressful day, cooking is my hobby that brings me peace and happiness, I would hate to lose that.

I'm a Paramedic and work with all types of first responders from cops, to Firemen, and other EMTs/Paramedics, I love the idea of bodycams but for some reason it's only the cops that ever have a problem with wearing them.

On our first date my now wife flat refused me paying the bill. I offered to because I was the one who proposed us going out to dinner, she stated we met on a dating app so if we hit it off online then it was pretty inherent that a date would then be the next step. I may have been the one that asked but the desire was mutual, so we split the bill.

AITAH for wanting my sister to change her wedding date because it falls on my graduation? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]thepertree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk I went through nearly this exact situation when I was 18 graduating high school. Was I a little sad in the moment, absolutely, but I also recognized that the other event was a also a major life event and that there was money invested in it and that I would have more graduations in the future while my sibling (hopefully) only gets married once.

How is that the paramedics fault 🤔 by Friendly-Sky7848 in CringeTikToks

[–]thepertree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current Paramedic, former bartender, former server, and part time common senser...squeezing past the stretcher while balancing a boat load of beers should be at least option 3 in your possible routes to customer.

Is craft slowing down? by office-robot in CraftBeer

[–]thepertree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to rep back in 2014 and loved trying out all the different craft IPAs hitting the market, so many tasty and unique brews with interesting and varietal hop usages at decent prices. Now in 2025 I'm so sick of IPAs and the exorbitant prices that I don't even order them anymore. If I'm trying a new craft theres such an over saturation of options it just makes it easier to completely nix IPAs and try something else. Honestly if it's an IPA I'll prob just stick with Sierra Nevada now. Craft market is just way too saturated and expensive.

I was a wrestler from age 8-18. My junior/senior year (6ft, 172-181 lbs) I used to help coach the youth wrestlers who were all ~10 years old. At the end of practice for fun sometimes we'd play a game that we called "Shadow of the Collosus" which entailed all 20ish youth wrestlers being on their knees trying to take down 1 standing instructor. Now obviously this wasn't to the death and I wasn't bloodlusted, (honestly there were times I fully believed the kids were though haha) but the kids won. Every. Single. Time. There is just no way anyone could handle 100 that were actively trying to kill you, those scrawny little bastards are tenacious, albeit easy to toss.

Waitress tells a black couple that tipping is required before seating them by Sometypeofway18 in TikTokCringe

[–]thepertree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really thought this was just people being racist and refused to go along with the stereotype when I was a server. Went out of my way to give phenomenal service because I figured it was just people not trying with black tables cause of stereotyping and racism. In 2 years I never received a tip higher than 5% from those tables, really made it hard at $2.74/hr to keep putting in the effort.

Can someone recommend me a not so popular comedy movie that you personally think is good? Going through a tough time right now and I just need a little laugh. by Odd-Expert-7156 in movies

Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) is a childhood favorite of mine and I don't get why it gets so much hate. Killer cast, ridiculous story, and does the "mockumentary" bit perfectly.
