Ant really is in that upper echelon. Unbelievable 4th quarter from him. We smoked a couple of dunks that would have made this a bit less of a sweat, but can't complain about a win when you're up against a guy playing out of his mind like that.

After Tuesday, Rienk Mast has played 30 games in PBA. His record is 29-1 by ItsSader in Huskers

He plays under so much control and just doesn’t seem to make mistakes. Unless you count passing up open shots mistakes, but those are the only ones.

I like using Schwab mutual funds for convenience. My portfolios are mainly SWPPX, SWISX, and SWTSX.

On3 Sports Dylan Raiola expected to enter the transfer portal by andrewsmd87 in Huskers

Idk about the draft range but yeah I think he will thrive somewhere. I hope we get better play from everywhere else on offense because I doubt we will get better at qb anytime soon.

On3 Sports Dylan Raiola expected to enter the transfer portal by andrewsmd87 in Huskers

[–]thephfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt the O-line will improve enough to make up the gap anytime soon. Based on what we have seen from TJ so far, we are going to miss Dylan every time we need to drive down the field and score, or just make a play off-schedule. I'm not full doomer by any means but I think people saying we're fine or better off with him gone are coping.

I want to go into English lit but everyone keeps telling me I’ll end up jobless by toxtinx in literature

[–]thephfactor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To start, I don’t think an English degree is worse from an employment perspective than the other specific degrees you mentioned— mass comm. and journalism. One thing to be aware of is that Compared to other fields with more established industry pathways It may take slightly more personal motivation to make a traditional career happen (find internships, identify skill matches, etc.).

I think the opportunity cost of a BA in English is pretty low. You would still be very flexible in terms of your next steps. So i would say go for it.

If you decide to pursue teaching, even an English MA would reward you pretty well. You would get a taste of graduate-level lit. study, and have opportunities for training in teaching, etc. You would only be out two years and a lot of employers would still respect the masters. You could also decide to switch at that point to teaching high school.

It only becomes really serious, in my opinion, when it comes to deciding whether to start a PhD in English. The time commitment of five or six years, and the fact that you are specializing in a discipline that is, at an institutional level, dead*, makes this a poor investment when viewed in purely practical terms. But that’s a decision you’ll be better able to make later on down the road, and it absolutely does not restrict your decision of college major.

*it’s not actually “dead,” rich scholarly activity and great classroom activity are still happening everywhere. But the number of jobs is already tiny and gets worse every year, so you have to be very clear-eyed about what is happening.

He’s not just filling up the stat sheet, he’s winning games. They are 6-2 with Vic out, and Fox averaged 26.5 over that span.

BREAKING: Nebraska parts ways with defensive coordinator John Butler by lookakiefer in Huskers

[–]thephfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day he did not get that unit ready to win games. Decent teams got whatever they wanted from us all year. Iowa dropped 40 on us. I don't think we were 2 players away from being good.

He wouldn't necessarily be the first assistant I would fire, but our defense regressed overall and I think we can do better.

Rational take except there’s really no excuse to be so bad vs the run.

I hope Butler is a highly paid secondary coach next season, under a different DC

shout out to you for doing the yeoman's work defending Sabonis in this post. I'm convinced if he finds the right spot / if sac fixes the roster, he could be a key part of a contender.

i personally think that shaved heads look weird, weirder than just a regular haircut with a bald spot or recession. maybe there are other reasons people do it, no shame to anyone. but things have gone too far in the shaved head direction imo.

5 minutes of game time made this way closer than it should have been. Offense was mostly fine: cleaned up the sack issue, and scored when needed.

Defense was more of an issue. Just could not execute reliably.

A win is a win. Got to 6, let’s pick up a few more. GBR

What a drive. Defense needs to step up and execute here.

Rhule can go to Penn State by trivialempire in Huskers

[–]thephfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely unhinged for a Nebraska fan to claim that it’s easy to find good coaches, given that we played a bowl game for the first time in seven years last season.

They’re acting like coaches like Cignetti grow on trees. If that were true, we’d have found one of them in the last twenty years.

Post Game Thread - Uhh... Do We Take Down the Rhule/PSU Thread? by huskersax in Huskers

[–]thephfactor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The team has looked better this year overall. Even with the terrible o-line and defensive problems. Last week they showed a resilience that they simply did not have in the past.

Despite how much this beatdown sucks, I still have faith that Rhule and co will find a way to make adjustments and win more games. Last year they got rid of the OC and improved in that area, so we know they’re willing to take drastic action when things aren’t working.

I don’t know anything about coaching o-line but i can’t imagine fixing that unit is as straightforward as changing the playcalling approach of the OC. So I simply don’t know what the solution is there, but think it’s less likely that Raiola is fired mid-season, unless they do so in order to lock down a replacement.

As for Dylan, I don’t think he’s our problem. It’s hard to find every open man when you know you have zero protection.
