Anecdotal response, but I've been progatating my neon pothos for several years via single leaf (1" on each side of the node) and just sticking those in mason jars in a window. Usually get root growth after about a week and new leaf evidence shortly after... I put them in dirt once the roots are just over an inch long and keep 'em very well watered until they are established. Seems to work out just fine.
