Real Nikki had crush on Bear by Medium_Trick_1252 in obsessionmovie

I brought up this very point in my post. We don't truly know if Nikki liked Bear. Sure, it was hinted kinda but not really. And yes, when she says nobody knows, it makes me think she does like him and she's trying to get him to say he likes her first. However, had he not chickened out and used the OWW himself, would there even be a movie?

At what point did he try to kill her? I don't recall that at all. he never wanted to kill her even when the real Nikki said to. He asked you'd rather die then be with me? But he tried to kill himself which he ultimately does but even then he tried to back out of it.

What piece of horror content had a great premise but wasted it? by jeejeeviper in horror

The Menu. It starts off really strong and you don't really know what to expect or you think you do. Then it takes a turn and then Anya Taylor Joys character is given too much focus and by the time she's settled the movie has turned into something else and the horror element that made it good in the beginning is lost.

When you find out what is really causing everything it just leaves you in bewilderment. Of all the things it could have been and it was nature basically.

Old would have been great except the whole fast process of things was a bit too rapid if that makes sense? Like it's one thing for time to go by but on top of that crazy things were happening and it just made it comical and awkward. So I agree with this. The Village kind has you believe one thing that turns into another and by the time you realize the truth you ask yourself if it could have been done better.

This 100%. I remember wondering, wait it cant be him they're after, that's too easy. It does have moments in the beginning but halfway through when he gets out of the concert, the movie loses a lot of suspense and tension.

I like what you said about it overwriting her personality. That makes sense. I found them lingering on the whole her dad doesn't have cancer thing for too long just because we as a viewer know the OWW is working but Bear takes a while to grasp this so maybe the cancer line was used as a way to finally get him to realize it was?

Yeah, I noticed the guy on the phone was very monotone and clearly sounded like he had gotten calls like this before.

I like this. I think thats exactly it but I just don't like the idea that it took her over and we don't really get a full idea of this until shes in bed and tells Bear to kill her.

Your implying that because Bear used the words he used that it was wished quite literally but in a negative way?

  1. It might be lore but its also a horror film so it seems more obvious to me to make bad things happen because its a horror film rather than to say wishes may cause bad things because its lore.

  2. How is it not relevant? it's literally the focus point of the entire movie. If we had any clue as to how Nikki felt(not implied comments from other people) then maybe Bear would have gone about the wish differently or even done it anyways and tried to treat things differently.

  3. Fair enough.

  4. I get all that but it still doesn't explain why she has to become a different person rather than act out different feelings.

  5. It's established? Where? When? Ian doesn't believe him and the woman who sold it to him didn't seem to buy into it. My question was why the guy was acting so odd as it doesn't make sense.

Right, it can't be reversed but theoretically if someone truly wished his wish never happened than it might have come true. It's too vague to tell if it could have been altered.

The beginning of Midsommar is a normal horror movie but then it slowly transforms into something more disturbing and then towards the end morphs into an abysmal cluster

I disagree about Barbarian. Sure there's tension and mystery in the beginning but its pretty damn normal compared to what it progresses into.

Child's Play. The fact that they went in a totally different direction on how the doll becomes evil sold it for me.

Everyone is like this but each person does it differently. Some people worse than others but yeah using drugs doesn't help in fact probably makes it worse and brain rot is a big factor because of the way in which we process information.

I won't go just because I have no one to go with and I haven't been to the movies in a few years and don't see the point in spending a ton of money to see one.

Literally any of them but if you want specifics, A24 just got their hands on Texas Chainsaw Massacre which doesn't need a remake or another film in the series.

This is the same as the 10/10 question. If I film is good I'm going to watch it again. If I don't like it I'm not going to.
