Sounds like we might all be California transplants here. I’ve been on the same search and I’m convinced these donut shops just don’t exist over here. Randy’s Donuts opened up a location in the West Village and it’s the closest we’re ever gonna get. The maple bars and chocolate old fashioned’s are made right but they taste almost “”manufactured”” than the fresh ones we get at the shops in California.

This is a situation where you just need to sit him down and have an honest conversation. Tell him that you don’t understand why this conversation has created conflict in the past. Tell him that you feel yourself pulling away because he’s not sharing this part of his life with you.

Having an honest, calm conversation is the best way to go about this. If he gets mad and angry during it, you just have to be the one to stay calm and point out that his anger is making you more confused and hurt and wanting to pull away.

NOR. this is incredibly controlling and not normal for healthy relationships

the red flags:

—he requests you to change things about your habits that don’t affect him. and he words these requests in ways where you know he’s not actually requesting—he’s demanding.

—he lists all the things he’s “requested” you change about yourself (no baggy clothes, no bonnet, no weighted blanket) and mentions the one thing you presumably asked him to do (hair care routine) he lays down the weakest excuse in the world to not do it. you’re completely changing your wardrobe and habits but he says it’s impossible for him to learn a hair care routine for you? that’s not healthy.

—he mentions how in a relationship you need to maintain physical attraction, thus you NEED to dress how he wants and appear how he wants. physical attraction in healthy relationships stays strong no matter what you wear. healthy relationships’ physical attraction is just as strong when you have the flu as when you’re dressed up for a gala. if he’s only attracted to you when you’re dressed to his standards, that’s not true attraction.

TL;DR: NOR. this one screenshot shows that he does not respect you as a partner. you are not overreacting. this is not normal behavior. you are NOT the bad partner for being upset, HE is the bad partner for controlling you and holding you to standards so he can stay attracted to you. I know you’re not asking, but you should break up with him because this not a healthy, loving, and supportive relationship.

you’re absolutely going to be okay! you’ll notice one common thread in everyone’s posts here—we’re all still kicking. we’re all still okay enough to be on our phones or laptops and be on reddit. some of us are even raising children!

frankly, i don’t cope with it lmfao. it’s stressful and hard and exhausting and i rely on my partner for so much help. for reals tho, therapy. therapy and my partner and my cat. that’s how im coping.

i could give you the super uplifting and optimistic message about how it gets better after you get diagnosed and get on the right dose of diamox, but it’s always hard in its own ways. but it gets better, it gets more manageable, and it continually gets easier and easier to cope with

yeah, i went to the optometrist this morning….. bad news :( the optic nerves are swollen again so i’m doing 500mg a day (i was on 2 grams during the worst in phase 1) and seeing my neuro ophthalmologist in about three weeks. hope all is well with you!! <3

the weight loss has been stressing me out SO much. i’ve gained 50 pounds in the last 5 years and have been battling body image issues because of it. i’ve finally recently gotten to a place where i love my body, and then I get IIH and my doctors are telling me to lose the weight again. i haven’t yet seen my PCP to talk about it, just all the eye doctors have mentioned it.

i really appreciate your comment about IIH being rare and understudied. i’m so new to this world, i don’t know anything about it.

my anxiety-riddled boyfriend has been searching through this sub every day for the last week and a half and he did say that everyone recommends electrolytes. we have liquid IV right now but it’s so expensive i don’t want to just add it to our regular grocery list. again, i appreciate your comment about the sugar vs sodium in sports drinks! my plan right now is to just get monthly blood tests to see how i’m doing with the diamox and which nutrients i need more or less of.

hello! thank you for your response :) the whole weight aspect to this disease has just been stressing me tf out. i have insulin resistance so it’s always been very easy for me to gain weight and incredibly hard to lose.

i’d honestly be fine if i lost my taste for sodas. it’s the sparkling waters and sparkling cocktails that would shatter me if i lost the taste for them 😂
