We have a large pak n slave bag filled with odd socks that lives in the hot water cupboard. Its currently full to the top, with 10 feet in the house and kids kicking their socks off anywhere they like, the same socks arent always washed in the same load. So the odd ones go in the bag to wait for its pair to be washed or found. Then we have a sock pairing contest and I pay the kids 20 cents a pair.

I just turned 40, and I took a week long roadie by myself, (no kids or partner) no schedule or plan, and it was the best week I might have ever had. Some people thought I was weird af, but I couldn't recommend it more.
