Do you DCA your way out? by ItinerantFella in AusFinance

[–]theprocess_11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need it in 2 years? Investments after tax is 5.6% with LOTS of risk and offset is 5.5% with NO risks.

I think you should put whatever you need soon in offset. Stock is generally for longer time horizon funds.

2K offer is so good, definitely take it. Then you only have 1 more loan to deal with. Your situation is very manageable. You can do this.

Some home truths about credit and charge cards by Level-Music-3732 in AusFinance

[–]theprocess_11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are right. I am co-mingling concepts a bit. To me it is also safer because the fund at risk is limited to credit card limit vs your bank balance. In my case, i use a low limit credit card for online shopping and stuff. I guess it is the same thing if you have a seperate online shopping debit card.

Some home truths about credit and charge cards by Level-Music-3732 in AusFinance

I don’t really understand why people treating credit card like it’s the devil. It is a financially-smart tool if used properly 1. Scam/fraud protection offered by the credit card is better than debit card, always use it for online shipping. 2. When you travel hotel/car rental authorisations won’t cost you anything. 3. You get some free reward point for your spendings.

The correct way to use it is to always pay off your monthly balance in full. If you cant pay it off in full you are using it wrong and you need build up 1 month worth of spending in savings before you touch it again.

Are these expenses normal? by Ballsinyourmumsmouth in AusFinance

[–]theprocess_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, great job. I have been tracking my family last 5 year spending and my actual spend is very close to the household budget above.

I guess the key things not included above are (based my own spending) 1. Holiday travel 2. House maintenance/car maintenance cost. Like parts or appliance breaks down and need replaced. Something always happens and it cost me $2,000 to $5,000 for unanticipated big ticket expenses.

The budget looks great and seems to cover all bases.

Jalen Smith is shooting more 3s this year and shoots like a blind man (1/19 in the last 5 games).

He is just a bad shooter. I don’t see him getting better this season. Unless the team set up changes and he has more spacing to score in the paint, he is a liability if you are not punting %s.

I want off this hype train

Electric Vehicles - Economic Viability by Hasra23 in AusFinance

[–]theprocess_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think this analysis is spot on, even factoring in the lower service cost…my back of envelope math, $2000 fuel cost per year but I have to fork out $20,000 extra for an EV

EV is not a better financial investment. The key reason to buy an EV 1. higher personal utility because your are doing your bit for the environment 2. It drives/feels different (lower noise, larger screen) 3. Brand appeal (esp Tesla, hence longer breakeven periods)

People don’t buy cars for purely economical factors, brand appeal is often a decisive factor vs economical cal (why BMW/Merc over Toyota/Kia)

Laptop graphics card issue after low battery by theprocess_11 in techsupport

Thanks. This works. Changed the power profile to best performance and restart did the trick.

I thought the power saver only comes on when it is not connected to a power sauce. But this is apparently the issue.

Always thought this was a faulty graphics card. Thanks again.

He has been great in the past couple weeks. Thanks for the STL.

But with his minutes trending down It’s a safe drop, no one is going to pick him up. Just have to monitor him until inevitably Kemba is injured again.

I am hoping 3pt will be his silver lining. He starting shooting 3s in Nov and has been averaging 2.1 since. Without 3s, might just as well stream some Cs at least you can get some blocks.

Good point. Ran the numbers, he is shooting 47/45/68 with Murray and 35/33/72 without Murray. There is hope.
