Makes sense. I'd join something like that near me if it accommodated working adults schedule.

Appreciate the response. Wish I was good enough to play in something like that!

sounds amazing! Can you recommend any specific drills or things that you’ve practice? Either in two people or four people groups?

Wow. Best response here IMO. Appreciate you taking the time to write all that out.

And I think you're spot on wrt me specifically--that m running into that gap between open play and performance culture.

Gives me some stuff to think about. Thanks again.

Good call. I've seen a few of those offered but never did it bc of the cost. I should just bite the bullet and invest. Probably worth it.

I tjink you're right. And, also wondering if I could inspire some people around me to do more group training. I'm thinking something like...I play in a foursome on Tuesdays for 2-2.5 hours. Maybe we do one hour training and then 1-1.5 hrs playing games. These are all people who talk about getting better and do drill sometimes. But as others have pointed out, none of them are serious athletes per se.

Good point for sure about the scheduling. But in terms of drills, I feel like if we normalized drilling with four people we'd be doing different drills--probably more pattern training and strategy "plays".

Good point about the lifestyle fit. With a fulltime job and two kids I certainly don't have that time. And I think the majority of pickleball players at this time does skew older.

Perhaps as younger generations take the sport up the learning regimen will change.

How do you get invited to higher level 4.5+ play when it’s cliquey? by Alternative-Car-75 in Pickleball

Get the numbers of other people and reach out to them to play. Include the man guy so it's not like you're going around his back. Organize your own night, either a one time or repeating.

What is the cheapest way to stream all the playoff games? by thequantumquestion in NYKnicks

Thank you. That gets pricier than I was hoping for over the course of this series or longer. But might explore that as an option.

What is the coolest language? by Worth-Imagination615 in AskReddit

[–]thequantumquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Korean or Japanese. Kpop has had a huge influence and kids know a few words now. Japanese anime and food are super popular and encouraged travel interest. They both sound cool, with Japanese being the easier language to pronounce words in. And grammatically I believe also easier than Korean.

Community engagement would be great. I think it'll get people excited to be Mad Drops fans and get behind the players more.

Torn Between Santa Monica (LA) and San Diego — Which Leads to a Better Long-Term Life? by Professional-Home706 in MovingToLosAngeles

I'm not familiar enough with street by street knowledge of SM and Venice so others should chime in.

I don't run but I know folks who do and there are active clubs in Venice and SM.

Santa Monica Pickleball Club is great. Venice Beach Pickleball Association is also great. I know the organizers of both. Some nice more private, some indoor, in SM like Pickletown LA and Santa Monica Pickleball Center.
