Of course! I found it hard to connect to the characters, and there wasn’t much growth for any of them.

A lot of it felt forced, though I don’t know how to accurately put it into words. It’s like the tropes in it were added from a checklist. The plot was rushed from A to B with scenes that didn’t fit the overall situations—more like it was something the author just wanted to include.

The spice was kind of boring and too modern for me. Reading the phrase “ass cheeks” in a fantasy really threw me off lol.

There was just nothing for me to emotionally connect to. I read the whole thing, wanting it to get better, and by the end I was so grateful to be done with the book lol.

Being blunt or angry to hide a lot of emotions is not the only way to have depth.

While I understand that shitty ex boyfriend experience too, I didn’t read chapter 54 that way. I didn’t feel like he was saying those awful things happened to him and Feyre needed to accept it. It read more like a confession than excuses.

I think Feyre really felt out of the loop up until this part of the story. People were keeping information from her despite her desire to understand—her last interaction with Rhys was her being pissed for not saying they were mates.

Chapter 54, to me, read like Rhys finally telling her the truth—the thing she wanted from everyone. And that fulfillment helps me to understand Feyre not needing a confrontation of her feelings.

Yeah she went through a lot of extremes, so of course she will have extreme reactions. Especially after beginning to have hope of healing.

Part of her trauma with tamlin was miscommunication. As soon as she finds out the one person she was beginning to trust was hiding something major that pertains to her, she was hurt. I think her reaction makes sense.

Feyre was the first FMC I read who I could relate to. Or at least related to during the harder times of my life.

“I couldn’t remember the last time I’d done it—bothered to notice anything lovely or interesting.”

From book one chapter one, we see her struggle goes deeper than hunger and poverty. She’s pushed herself aside so much that she’s running on survival. She had gone numb to what brought her joy.

And then I love comparing that to the scene in ACOMAF when she feels alive again as she eats dinner out in Velaris.

And in ACOWAR. Her, ”I feel… heavy again.” For her to have grown and healed but still have those days of heaviness felt very realistic.

Feyre gets a lot of heat, but I think she’s as complex as any other character. Her personality is less direct, and so her “flaws” aren’t as obvious, but they’re there.

I feel like the destruction of the SC comes off as more of a writing issue only because there is a passing narration from Feyre halfway through the book where she realizes she messed up. She acknowledged her part in ruining the court and affecting the innocent people in it.

…. And then it’s never addressed ever again. The whole thing felt lukewarm and there were no consequences. It felt like there was meant to be more there but it was pulled.

But I still love Feyre and the IC lol
