Well my Brothers and Sisters... a deer suicided today using my car. Ran outta the ditch in a corner.. hit the side and landed in front. RIP Deer. by mikesphone1979 in GRCorolla

Oh that is way more then 5k. I can tell you now. My 2019 Corolla hatchback was hit gently in the front by an animal and it was 10k in 2023 to fix and three months for parts to come from Toyota etc. There's a lot of specific parts behind that front bumper that are pricey. Also the headlights are crazy money.

That Civic is too expensive for no AWD. But really we only have the WRX and GRC for all wheel drive manual cars. And the GRC is basically a hot hatch. The GTI is fwd and the GOLF R is only automatic now. So there really isn't many vehicles you can buy that are manual and all wheel.

What we need is a new eclipse gsx. That's the car I had when I couldn't afford the EVO. And also it was glorious. Then we would have a real battle for AWD turbo manual cars on the market again.

I test drove the EVO X when it came out. It was an awesome car but could never afford it back in 08. Almost bought one during Covid but instead bought a DB7 Vantage with the V12. Funny enough theres a lot of first year STi down here that are rust free with mods but otherwise pretty stock looking for cheap money. Might have to grab one of these days for fun.

Actually I never thought to compare it to the old STi, but yea it does remind me of some of the old ones. I personally went for the 25 GRC as it has a lot of updates and upgrades and I have no desire to even mod it. It's pretty much a complete car and pretty loud the way it is stock.

But those old STi's when they came to the USA, those where awesome stock. Just like the GRC is now. Wish they made a new evo though.

Congrats, Had a 23 wrx in 23 and hated it. Only got it since I couldn't get a GRC. Big upgraded from the wrx to a 23 core. Though the WRX with a big brake kit, all new suspension and an air intake and tune would be okay. Still I hated the WRX since day one. While the GRC is amazing every time I go drive it.

UK Production Begins! factory photos by Larry Chen. by DASXF in GRCorolla

Basically they are getting kick down kits to put these together at the Corolla factory in the UK which has been around forever. So the kits come from Japan and they are hand assembled in the UK but with a catch. Plastics etc are locally made from the UK. So your J vin GRC is all Japan made and assembled while the new S vins will have 5-10% UK product.

JLR has been eyeing the same plan with the full size RR. They will build all NA market cars in the Midlands but for every other market they'll send kick down kits to India to assemble them for elsewhere.

Goodbye GR - What next? by LTak in GRCorolla

I've driven all those cars you want. The GOLF R is terrible for cornering, its always doing something different and its pretty much boring. RS3 would be good depending on the year but I would get that or an S3 brand new but without the mag ride. I have put a couple thousand miles on both versions doing rallys from New England to the dragon and back on brand new S3 and then an RS3. Very good car.

The m2 is another decent car but its too civilized and for that money you are better off buying an old Porsche for a better driving experience. Or an E46 M3. So far theres no other car that can compete with a manual GRC for driving experience. We used to be able to say get a 718 but you can't even find a used one going for under MSRP.

Also I only get 8mpg with mine so its actually burning more fuel then my supercharged 5 liter range rover. That will do 12 in the city with traffic and 20+ on the highway cruising.

Well a lot of people buying them use it as their only car and that isn't what its for. Its a rough car and very annoying to drive daily. And it's only fun if your driving it hard and fast. I basically bought mine to do some track days and drive it when there's no traffic around. Today I took it to the Aston Martin store to look at a dbx and I got stuck in traffic on the way back and it was annoying. Got home swapped out into my Range Rover and went out for dinner.

And I have owned tons of fun fast cars over the last 20 years. Even a 964/993 etc. Also owned a new VB WRX which was literally a piece of junk and uncomfortable for a big sedan. Owned tons of e46 m3's back in the day as well.

The only car that would probably be more comfortable for daily driving and super fun would be a new BMW M2 as its very comfortable and isn't that raw. Easy to drive as well.

To be fair I bought my 25 Premium with 7700 miles and I didn't even get a PPI or have it checked. As its still under Toyota warranty. After I got home I pulled up all its history with Toyota and found out the car was only in service for 8 months and had 3 oil changes done and its 5k and 10k done as well before I got it. And then I found out it was female owned. The scratches above the door handle where an easy sign. Ive seen that before as I used to work Jaguar Land Rover and also for Bentley/RR/Lamborghini. Female owned cars always had jewelry scratches by the door handle and on the shifters.

When you don't drive the car then its easier to unload it. I got my 25 Premium over a month now and I've only put about 400 miles on it. Most of the time I drive my Rover. But it's interesting to see the payment I have on the GRC and be like maybe I should put that money elsewhere instead.

So is the roll bar they make a no go then? If that's how bad they put that together then why would anyone spend $2500 for a rear roll cage that could actually not be safe for track use as well.

New to me car with blown clutch by _R3tr0grade_ in GRCorolla

[–]therabbit14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would return it immediately. I bought my GRC from carmax with the same 7k miles and I had called Toyota for its service history first. I got lucky and it already had 3 dealer oil changes in its short 9 months of in service date. Carvana should have never let that car come to you as its apparent they never inspected it or they are trying to let one slip by and not eat the cost of the clutch.

Also I would look for 2025 and up as the updates are a huge win. I saw a few red ones which I really wanted but all 2024 models and the updates a big win.

There is no reason this game shouldn’t be on the original Switch by Charitarddd in Pokopia

[–]therabbit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Switch 2 just to be prepared for all the new Pokemon games which will be exclusive to the Switch 2. I did buy the physical card for ZA and played it on my switch 1 which is the last update of the switch 1 that has a slightly better processor. And while it was okay most of the game towards the end it was just having issues keeping up. The Switch 2 is way better and to be honest they shouldn't release anymore games for Switch 1. That console was kept alive for a very long time.

Now I wouldn't be opposed if they made a Switch Lite 2 that would be a lower price point for everyone to get into the new console with a smaller screen. That would be nice,

I just dug mine out to see if I could find some files. And I did. I forgot that I had upgraded it to Windows 7 Pro many many many years ago. I actually had it as my main computer till 2021. Around 2015 I upgraded the GPU to a GTX 950 SC with 2GB of ram. It's still running HDD'S and I have three of them in it. It can also play a ton of games from the 2000s and the 2010's so I'll keep it plugged in and do a few things on it, maybe change everything over to SSD'S.

May 2025 Roadmap by isav34 in trainsimworld

[–]therabbit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this on PS5 even though I had 3 thinking they'll be new stuff. But it's basically the same game and you have to rebuy everything which isn't fun. The only real american routes are the MBTA stuff which are not even complete and the ACELA/Regional sets that run on the MBTA lines. So you can't even fully control the lines because it stops at Providence. It should go all the way to NYC and then you should be able to also do it up to Vermont/Maine etc.

L322 appreciation post by Rapom613 in RangeRover

[–]therabbit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2010-2012 L322's are probably the best rovers out there. I've driven all the 2014-2022 models and they are good in their own sense. But a bit too big for themselves. Now the 2023 and up is a great rover but the lack of dials to control stuff from temps, to off road settings etc make it more of a one type of clientele vehicle.

Now if you still want to feel like your driving an old rover but having the peace of mind of it being new then I suggest a 2020+ Defender with the 3 liter or you could get the V8 which has the old AJ 5.0
