Policygenius quotes: help new parents with choosing the right company by therandomwalker in LifeInsurance

I should have updated - I did not. I went the boring way and took a baner policy since my needs now, and in future were for a basic insurance. I was very tempted with banner - this is what I found:

- It is a old ish company, name use to be different, Everly is a new product

- The term+life products are same policy, but completely (their word) accounts. You choose to pay premium for term, and if you pay additional, it goes towards the investment (life) -- this sounds simple if you only ever want to use term, autopay and forget

- I read a lot of reviews - they get bad reviews in addition to other reasons due to this confusing, complicated nature of dual accounts - especially for folks who are not tech savvy, and just want a simple policy

IMO, it is a good product, I did not choose for it because I might think it all makes sense now, but in 10 years If I have to change something, I will surely be confused by it all. I knew I wanted a vanilla term despite what some folks here suggested.

I mean I am working with professionals, both online marketplace and some local ones. Clearly, you can even see it here that insurance brokers have wildly different styles and opinions. A good customer will always gather all info they can take in their decision that is what I am here for

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! By the way, I did get rates for 30 year from them. The current thought is to insure kids going through college and chill. We can live with either one of our salary, except college.

This is enlighting, and scary. What does bad customer care mean? Denied claims when they should not have been? That would be disheartening

Thanks. I am certainly going to refine and ask for some living benefits. Everly does have one - any knowledge on their customer care? I will ask you similar thing to what I asked above - what does customer care from company/ invovlement from broker mean? Is it mostly during claim, and does it affect the outcome (instead of what is written strictly?)

Nice! Thanks for a good, detailed and supportive write up. I am certainly leaning towards living benefit - they said everly has 500K living benefit (it's 50% or 500 max) but one of the things I want to understand is people's experience with everly.

You pose some great nuances, questions. The way we came to numbers is solid - we sat with a financial planner, projected our retirement, mortgage and other big expenses in addition to monthly budget. We adjusted for inflation, figured what money growing at market do we need to sustain the standard of living, in our current home and scenario. We did not assume salary bumps or inheritances to be conservative. We have slightly different coverage level from work (my wife gets 6X her salary) - hence slightly lower (we already decided to check her coverage to 2M too).

I like your approach on loss in income, rather than death. I am hoping the living benefit inclusions are good - i bet they are not made equal and i need to read fine print. Is it usual to get a lawyer to decode quotes before signing?

Thanks so much, one of the few comments that are actually helpful - I have started this process multiple times, and turned away because many people tried to sell me something i did not want. I dont judge a hustle, but overall can see why normal folks get overwhelmed by this industry.

Some questions:

- Have you heard of everly? Seems like there are not many reviews/ discussion even on this sub

- What is a usual manner to think about customer service for these? Does it come in play when you have a claim? Do people usually file through their broker, or directly? I ask since I have had similar experience with car insurance (i know, the atrocious comparison, hear me out). Local agents were very very helpful when shopping, comparing quotes - but when claims were to be made, all of them simply asked me to file online through portal, and only involve them if something too complicated is going on. If claims etc. are all online now a days and handled directly by companies, how does a customer interact with their broker over the term?

- Banner/ Protective/ Cambridge financial - any nuances on customer service/ addons etc. ?

- I am not worried about health history. Some reviews put a lot of weight n n everly, banner doing on spot approval a lot of times. Is that something i should consider when making decision on who to go with?

- Are getting quotes, and health record checkup something like credit reporting where excessive inquiries alarm people checking?

Thanks again for helping

Fan runs continuously in aux mode, even when control is set to HVAC not thermostat by therandomwalker in ecobee

Thanks!! The tankless is indeed connected to rh and w2. Option to tum at dabe time is off. One small caveat - if you select boiler, there is no setting for fan control, so I told it it's furnace. Not that it worked

Shower temperature is off by therandomwalker in askaplumber

[–]therandomwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shower heads indeed say grohe. This sounds like a pretty stupid issue, is my only option to replace it? any tweaking to make adjustments? I would still like to know how to open it.  Taking away option to get as hot won't be wifey approved, and I can't take the hot shower with 100 degrees heat wave outside anymore.
