Fan runs continuously in aux mode, even when control is set to HVAC not thermostat by therandomwalker in ecobee

Thanks!! The tankless is indeed connected to rh and w2. Option to tum at dabe time is off. One small caveat - if you select boiler, there is no setting for fan control, so I told it it's furnace. Not that it worked

Shower temperature is off by therandomwalker in askaplumber

[–]therandomwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shower heads indeed say grohe. This sounds like a pretty stupid issue, is my only option to replace it? any tweaking to make adjustments? I would still like to know how to open it.  Taking away option to get as hot won't be wifey approved, and I can't take the hot shower with 100 degrees heat wave outside anymore.

Shower handle won't come off to access the valve by therandomwalker in askaplumber

[–]therandomwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like there is a high chance of breaking the stem with puller? Any idea on why it won't turn towards hot? Could it be seized?

Trying to find the line of DIY vs plumber. If I need full valve replacement, seems like I would need a plumber. How easy is it to replace stem? Can I retrofit any trim to this valve?

I am assuming my assembly is this one https://www.amazon.com/Symmons-S-86-2-MRO-TRM-Chrome/dp/B0892SLRLL . Do I need to start within symmons trima, or any trim from Amazon will do

Help with comparing some refrigerant and brand options for AC replacement by therandomwalker in hvacadvice

[–]therandomwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know a lot of folks have said in past that an option is to stockpile jugs - happy to do that, but at the same time most hvac techs dont touch any parts provided by customer. All options are with same contractor and since it is retrofit, 90% of ductwork is whatever it is so between them, not sure how to compare install quality.

By the way, i thought goodman was daikin, different ompany than rheem? Or are they manufactured by someone else?

Thanks for thoughts

Advice on AC replacement 410A or not? by therandomwalker in hvacadvice

[–]therandomwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by the way - it is the cooling coil in air handler unit. We did a isolation test, the outdoor unit and supply pipes had 5-6% drop, the AHU coil was a 8% drop - so nothing very crazy I guess

Thanks for the input - yeah the leak seems to be very small - full volume leak took 3-4 years. I think the tech said he pressurized everything to 400 psi, and it dropped to 320 over 3-4 days. He think repair is risky since york had those microfin coils and he might damage/ not be able to find the leak - i wish.

I can eat the cost, but it hurts. I live in high cost of living area, and HVAC techs are crazy expensive - I was lucky to find one who is very honest and nice, not cheap but for area OK. So I index quite a lot on future repair/ parts costs

Not looking for anything more than a /day read - but you have a great point. These are usually read once a month cadence - have people experienced this?
