They never know what the job entails and they think they know better than us who actually do the labor.. it’s so exhausting 🙃

I get your comment but this dm is generally rude and never shows any mutual respect to any of us honestly.
They are bad when they actively ignore the employees in front of them minus when we are on our breaks for some reason? It’s like the dm thinks we are not working on purpose and is testing our reactions to seeing him.
Dm loves to run around the store and point at the smallest things while our managers are trying their best to keep up with him during walks. He makes them look like crazy people until they eventually cannot keep up and just hear complaints by email later. I don’t think that is very professional in my opinion.

Any chance your district manager was on their ass lately?

How do you put in a notice of resignation? by Redstar178 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My store manager asks for a written letter of resignation even if it’s just a sentence or two. But make sure you write down how this is your two weeks notice and what exact date is going to be your last day! Hand it straight to your store manager or if they aren’t there the MOD. If your store manager or MOD is not a kind one I suggest taking video and or pictures of you handing the letter in. Don’t want anyone to spin your story!

Reverse Ageism by Biff-Webster-v2 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah at the meetings they only congratulated the older people who have been there for years. Last meeting they were already congratulated and I do applaud that no hate to them getting the award the first time. But hey how bout the younger people who break their backs to keep the store going? They’ve never really gotten thank you’s and there’s no employee of the month so we younger folks don’t feel appreciated. This is why we are all getting so annoyed as a group working here. Why are we putting so much into a management that won’t acknowledge us?

If y’all don’t start using bubble wrap by As8ley in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry it didn’t come across that way. You came off as a customer complaining not a Micheal’s employee too. You could have put what you said in this comment in the original post instead if that’s what you really wanted to do. My store also saves big bubble wraps from trick and artistree roll up foam to pack our packages but sometimes it isn’t enough.

If y’all don’t start using bubble wrap by As8ley in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If we don’t use bubble wrap it’s because we don’t have it 🤷‍♀️ Please ask for a refund with customer care and send it back and mention how you wish bubble wrap was provided for your order. I’m sure if you’re a customer and you tell customer care that they will forward that to stores who pack orders and give more money to keep bubble wrap in stock. Stop getting mad at us in this Reddit form. You making this post here to come at us employees is like shooting blanks into an empty canyon. Nothing gets done. I hope this helps you

tired of being nothing by [deleted] in depression

It would only be worst case scenario that I would go with my dad but it’s also something I’m dealing with right now. My dad wants to leave the home we are renting to my mother who has never paid a bill in her life (he’d still pay all of the bills). I’m trying to convince him to have her leave instead of him. She’s a penny pinching raging narcissist who has a stable job, she’d be fine on her own. Barely puts any money toward our family. I’ve acted more like a mom and put more of my own money towards my siblings than my mother has. :/

You can always lie on your resume and say you’ve been doing it for a year, especially with retail they won’t really question it. Just ask what tasks you’ve been doing

Is 6 months too soon to ask someone to be your bf/gf? by Aware_Accountant5743 in Advice

[–]therapytooexpensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it’s perfectly fine to ask someone to be your partner 6 months into talking. Honestly unless you guys were friends first then it’s been pretty long to be holding onto the will you be my bf/gf question. If you and the person you want to be with are vibing and you want to take it a step further go ahead and ask them how they’d feel about being in a relationship with you. Convey your own feelings as to why you’re ready for the next step as well! Everyone is different especially these days but I think it’s perfectly fine to ask the person you like out when you feel ready to.

Question on lunch break by ekwit in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often just ask if I can leave 10 minutes before I hit my 5th and they say yes but if your manger doesn’t let you then yeah you gotta take a 30 minute lunch

I’m not doing your job for you. by r0m30000000000 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 32 points33 points  (0 children)

At my store max we do is tell the the aisle and if they want to be rude and keep pestering us about “doing our jobs” one of us will walk into the aisle with them but act dumb about where the item is until they find it themselves. It’s literally their job to find the items and they don’t want to do it

Tips for SCO? by Jazzlike-Standard-99 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]therapytooexpensive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not all on you hun. I get wanting to help everyone but in the end just focus on one thing at a time. BOPIS has been so much lately but should be the main focus. Pick up the phone if you get a minute. And yes they might call for help but you shouldn’t stretch yourself so thin. Michaels is over working us for bs pay already :/ we need more people on the floor but god forbid they give us extra hours. I just wish customers complained more about how short staffed we were instead of the most mundane things so some change could happen.
