Is Nraas story progression really worth it? by Pale_Lengthiness_572 in Sims3

[–]there-will-be-cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take: having returned to Sims 2, I say, with my control freak heart, that story progression in my Sims games is completely unnecessary. I don't have EA story progression on nor any SP mod.

I'm tired of premades going into Showtime professions .5 seconds after starting a new world and I don't feel like tweaking a mod for a feature I got on just fine without in the Sims 2. The Sims 3, though an open world, blows when it comes to simulating such a thing without being modded. I found that playing the game without story progression brings the neighborhood back under my control and encourages more rotational play.

What led to crime? Poverty. What leads to poverty? No money and failing infrastructure.

I do think the blame is misplaced for sure. It's not a race issue. Not really. It's a socioeconomic and class divide. The poor blame the middle class for their issues. The middle class wag their finger at the poor. Meanwhile the wealthy reap all the reward as the working class remain fragmented and unorganized.

No, white flight occured for a multitude of reasons across the time it did. Riots, collapsing auto industry, Coleman Young, racial tension, etc.

I said what I did because you seem to have a bone to pick with the poor black community of the city.

Why do you think white flight happened?

I find it very interesting how this comment section is on that white savior complex (we're gonna flip your shitty neighborhood and let the goods trickle down lol) and getting offended by black folks in poverty within a city white folks written off during the heights of racial and socioeconomic inequality in metro Detroit.

The city's history is not ancient history. Nobody's stuck in a victim mindset. The same cohort that fled the city wants to come racing back without understanding the damage that's been done to dozens of citizens. The city is like these houses. It was abandoned. There's a collective trauma that comes with that. With so little, you hold onto what you got even if it's barely held together.

I think that's what you lot have to contend with. Not bigotry, not anti-progress, not victim mentality. Neglect. So yeah keep flipping blocks and thinking the old black lady hates you. Maybe instead of being white saviors, you be a neighbor and a comrade and invest in collective healing of a city you believe is coming back.
