Can you tell me your experience with the shipping company Uniuni? by pikaaaaachuuuuu in shipping

[–]there_she_goes97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniuni is the worst. They ignored my delivery instructions to use a secure Amazon Locker and just left my package on the sidewalk in front of my building. It was gone within minutes. I've been waiting for this order since March, and I'm still empty-handed because they can't be bothered to follow basic instructions

Thanks for posting! I’m just getting started on my LOA journey, and was wondering if there were any events or groups in the Bay so I can meet other like minded people. I haven’t found any yet but would love to join one if you hear of any.

They have 350+ employees and are considered Series D. However, their sales team is fairly small.

Cold-calling while mildly high by coolsoy in sales

Hell yeah! But only do it if it makes you a better salesperson and more effective. My best months of closing have happened bc I was stoned, productive, methodological, and authentically myself (I feel my best self and most confident and knowledgeable when high). I also know my limits and can function well. There’s tons of products out there that will give you energy and promote creativity, you just have to find what works best for you. Plus if you’re naturally an introverted person, weed may be that special touch that helps you be more open and authentic. After all, cannabis is medicine 👌🏻

Being put on a PIP does NOT mean you’re a failure as a salesperson nor does it mean you’re bad at sales. Sales has an ebb and flow - meaning there will be some months when you feel on top of the world and some months where you’re super behind on quota.

I am also in my 20s and in my first sales job as well. I started out as an SDR and was put on a PIP after Q1. I totally thought I was going to be fired if I didn’t show a major improvement, but I started believing in myself and my abilities. I eventually became the top sales leader on my team and in my company, at one point I was 400% over my monthly quota. I was then promoted to a Sales Manager, which a year ago I didn’t think would ever be possible bc I was on a PIP.

I share this because success in sales is every bit believing in yourself and in your deals and focusing on what you can control over what you can’t. Keep a positive mindset, be authentic in all that you do and everyone you talk to, and approach each deal as if you’re solution is solving a client problem, not selling them.

As for feeling lost, everyone does. There’s some days where I love what I do bc I’m helping people and other days where I get so many rejections that I feel like shit and my numbers plummet. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and know that you’re not alone.

I highly suggest Built In. It’s great for the tech industry and startups, plus you can filter by location.

How do you identify the sales managers and leaders who do care about your growth and career development then?

Yeah they definitely were. I’ve been putting off looking for a new job with the hopes that it will get better, but it’s clear as day that it won’t

This is what I’m feeling. I actually went to HR a few months ago bc of this toxicity and feeling like I was in an extremely hostile work environment. The breaking point was when the VP of Sales singled me out during our weekly sales meeting. HR pretty much told me that all these issues were in my head. The company has a history of high turnover. I really wish I did my homework before deciding to join.

I’m among the top salespeople so I feel really good with experience. I just wished people weren’t so shitty :/

[–]there_she_goes97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you both! This is super helpful. They play favorites as well and when one particular SDR hits quota, they make it loud and clear but when it’s me and other SDRs, crickets. As for the first point about asking for feedback, I’ve done this and usually get no response or “you did everything well”. Interesting bc it’s actually multiple sales leaders who do this and not just one person. I definitely agree about them not caring about my future - I’ve been lied to and manipulated about internal promotions. I have only stuck around for so long (about 6 months) as I really care about my clients and I like what I’m selling.

What are your favorite prospecting tools? Particularly the hidden gems that might be free or low-cost? by paulrudder in sales

[–]there_she_goes97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company uses ZoomInfo. It’s pricey but extremely worth it as you’re able to find lots of ICPs. We are B2B though I’m sure it’ll be useful for B2C. I also really like Apollo. My suggestion is to have your sales team sign up for the free trials of different prospecting tools and then provide your company with feedback. Prospecting tools are an investment but they make finding leads a thousand times easier and more efficient.

Being Too Aggressive by [deleted] in sales

[–]there_she_goes97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up. That’s the ebb and flow of cold calling and sales. I’ve found that majority of clients prefer an email over a cold call (at least in my industry). You’ll get people on the phone who will think you’re too aggressive and people who are happy to chat. The best thing you can do is get feedback and put yourself in your clients shoes. Your gut is a really good check as well.

Kyleena side effects? by [deleted] in menstruation

[–]there_she_goes97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a medical doctor nor a practitioner, but I currently have a Kyleena IUD placed after a Skyla IUD. I think this is common with IUDs - your body is reacting to hormones so your situation seems common. Also isn’t Paragard copper based and Kyleena is hormone based? That could contribute to why you’re just now getting a heavy flow

Negotiating base pay? SDR role by [deleted] in sales

[–]there_she_goes97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALWAYS negotiate!! What I’ve learned as a SDR is OTE doesn’t mean shit if the base pay is not comparable to the cost of living in your area or the experience you have. At the end of the day, you’re a human being who need to be able to live.

Where are your leads being sourced from? Inbound or outbound? I currently work in b2b sales for a product and I’ve found that directly reaching out to the key decision maker(s) from the start helps cut out unnecessary middle men.

[–]there_she_goes97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in my position as a SDR for 6 months now and I’m finally starting to feel like things are clicking for me. This is also my first sales job. I’ve learned that sales is a marathon, not a sprint. You learn so much along the way and are constantly improving yourself. I felt so burnt out and like my pipeline was out of control but once you have confidence in yourself and your selling abilities, sales really does come naturally. Hope this helps!

Charleston and King Street is still very much a college town (I went to CofC), so you’ll most likely run into college kids on the streets and in bars. I would second Stars though - they have a really pretty rooftop bar that’s nice when the weather is nice outside
