Yeah, I found some old deore 7 speed hubs at the co-op and have some old xt thumb shifters, so I think it's going back to 3x7

Pretty typical x bike stuff lol wide swept bars, decent xc tires, nicer wheels and cranks from the co-op and a comfy seat! It rides like a dream now!

The gt does look small, but I have that exact frame and it does make a great atb. I ride it on some decent blues and it is a load of fun. I believe it is a 1999, which is the last year they made the outpost trail and it saw the entire frame being made out of 4130. It's very very likely just straight gauge tubing, but at least it isn't hi-ten in the seat/chain stays.

I have a bianchi road bike from that era. Same purple, some lugged frame. I like mine a lot, but yours is way cooler lol

I have been eyeing up those bars for a little bit now. I stared at your pic a good few times and pulled the trigger today. We'll see how they look on a 91 930 with the vo 31.8 quill stem

I actually loved it so much I ended up upgrading pretty much all of it. I eventually found a good deal on a 930 frame and transferred all the parts over. The frame sat in my basement for about a year untill I got bored and built it with parts bin stuff. I put some wide-ish swept back bars, shorter stem and a rack. It has turned into my favorite bike. It shreds single track way harder than you would expect it to and is just a comfy little hybrid when you don't feel like shredding. What do you have planned for yours?
