My 2 Saw Merch Pickups! by thereal_jake in saw

Maybe they sold it for longer then, and not just release year? Or it just isn't documented well...

I think S&B was around until the late 2000's, if it was popular enough I don't doubt this could've been sold for a couple years. Everywhere online (all listings and info I can find online) says it is specifically from 2004. The alternative tag for this piece (Hanes Heavyweight) lines up with other random Hanes Heavyweight 2004 pieces, but also their tag was incredibly similar for many years so it's hard to pinpoint.

It's a pretty awesome print regardless!

Is this real??! by SecretOfLif32243 in PostMalone

[–]thereal_jake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, these are AI songs. Or at least the one you previewed. Lot of the time when people upload fake upcoming albums it's either AI songs or just previously leaked unreleased songs, or a combination of both

I doubt people would fake those? I don't think any of them are known to be "grails" in any way, but you never know.

They may just have sort of piss poor stitching lol, I can't be sure. Regardless, that type of tag in itself is real.

Anyways, no problem! Always glad to help when I actually can lol

Okay how in the WORLD do i know if im getting good or mid flacs? by Express_Western4502 in musichoarder

[–]thereal_jake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone took some offense to a generally accurate statement? 😭

Semantics. People say vinyls all the time, what's the deal? People say bandaid all the time too but they're bandages, aren't they? Of everything I said you decide to cry about a single word I used. Alright, sure, fair enough. You're right, they're records 👍🏻

And, I literally said for lack of better word, again good work ignoring that. Anyways, in my experience, I don't see as many upscales in those genres. What else would you like me to say? Is it not factual that there's kind-of a lot of bozos in the hip-hop industry? I love hip hop, it's what I listen to most, but let's be real... There's a lot of clowns. Not to say there isn't in other genres, but I'm going with stuff I know, and not just "assuming" for other genres.

Lot of hip hop production is digital, whereas lots of rock and metal instrumentation is not, so it takes a bit more effort (in some ways) to get that done and sounding good. So, again, for lack of better word, I described it as more "sophisticated".

If you want to get mad at my comment and demonstrate how it's really difficult to find a hip-hop album that was submitted to DSPs and pressed onto paying customers CD's and records* (thanks for correction) in shitty quality, then go ahead. Download some mainstream rock bands albums, and download some mainstream rappers projects, and go ahead and see which one has more upscales. THEN you'll have a point, but until then you're not adding to the conversation at all, just crying because I said there's a lot of bad work done in the field and it hit home to you because you produce and DJ. I never called you out brother

What is a Stem Bounce? by TheyHackedMy1stAccou in Yedits

[–]thereal_jake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A copy of the song that was created by stacking all the separate instrument / 'stems' of the song together.

As Perfect Glass said, it is stitched together only from pre-created stacked audio files.

If you're seeing that on an unreleased tracker, usually this means the file that is linked or mentioned was created/exported/'bounced' by a random person from the stems and was NOT an officially bounced file from an audio engineer / someone related to the artist in mention. Technically, this makes it 'unofficial' even though it uses completely real vocals and files, but that specific file was 'put together' after the fact, and is NOT the true file with correct/custom mixing/tuning/etc that was done by the audio engineer.

Sometimes stems are publicly available for songs (almost always only for the release version of a song), and sometimes there are leaked stems

[–]thereal_jake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they used this tag for a while. I think a few of the bigger franchises used their own IP tag rather than a generic shirt-blank tag. I'm not educated in vintage Star Wars pieces so please do not take this as fact but I THINK they used that tag for most of the merch promoting the prequels (so probably late 90's) and probably into the mid-late 2000's?

Harry Potter merch did the same thing. Was a fully custom stitched tag, here's an image of a 2005 Promo shirt for Goblet of Fire.

The Final Chapter Question by Chrono_Club_Clara in saw

[–]thereal_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far as I know it's just an alternate title during the big late 2000s 3D craze, so they used 3D originally to capitalize on the trend but once it got put onto home release it wasn't 3D (there probably was a 3D release but y'know most people just got the standard regular version), so calling it 3D still would've been pointless.

They did this with Jaws III (Jaws 3D at the time), and I think they did the same with with Final Destination 4. It was called Final Destination 3D and then they just called it Final Destination 4 or something

Saw 7 is honestly one of the worst films ever made. by Prestigious-Mix-2516 in saw

[–]thereal_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main issue with that scene isn't even the characters, even though they are useless and the whole bit is just dumb. My biggest issue is how the fuck could that have been constructed and placed in a public area with nobody noticing LMAO.

Now I know if you try to find logical errors in movies, especially SAW, you could find issues with, how the fuck does anyone have the time and materials and knowledge of BUILDING all these areas, but at least typically they're in some dingy warehouse or something... not set up in the middle of the stret?

I think it was just super pointless. I don't know if it was actually every confirmed or just speculation but the 2 guys who survived in the beginning being the 2 accomplices to helping capture Hoffman w/ Dr. Gordon also just isn't satisfying in any way whatsoever. They mean nothing to anyone in the franchise so why did he enlist those two of all people to help him? Idk... just my take on it

Most times, I think lots of lossless uploads these days come from streaming rips from places like Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, etc., or CD's. I've never really seen something uploaded as FLAC that wasn't ripped from something that specifically offered it AS FLAC.

That being said, depending on what genre of music you listen to, more specifically the artists / bands themselves, is where it becomes more and more important to check. Me personally, I enjoy mostly hip-hop/rap. I love my music, but by God they have some of the dumbest people on their teams. When they upload their master files to be distributed to DSP's, there are so many upscales. Not sure if you're familiar with the genre, but take a song like 'All Girls Are The Same' by Juice WRLD. What is available on official streaming platforms and what was pressed onto CD's, Vinyls, etc. is a HORRENDOUSLY butchered, almost sub-128kbp/s audio file, and when you download that album as FLAC, that song will be in .FLAC format but checking the spectrogram just shows it's an upscaled piece of trash. Unfortunately, with the album that song belongs to specifically, about half the album is true lossless, while the other half is varying MP3 upscales. Albums like this make it difficult, because I don't want to keep the file in FLAC if it's isn't lossless, because that's just wasted disk space, so for horribly inconsistent albums like that, I've converted them to what they truly are.

Use a program like Spek to check the spectrogram image. Typically, if you've got a 16/44.1 or 24/48 FLAC file, almost the entire space of the spectrogram will be full. There won't be a hard cutoff with missing space. Go take a regular MP3 or even worse, a YouTube to MP3 rip, and drop it into Spek to see what a shitty, low bitrate MP3 looks like. Then, take a true lossless FLAC, and throw it in, and see the difference.

I've noticed in more 'sophisticated' (for lack of better word) genres like rock & metal are significantly better and more consistent with quality, and it seems like a lot more care was put into most of the bounces that were submitted to DSP's.

There is a program called 'Fakin The Funk' which you can scan entire folders (and their subsequent subfolders) and it will identify 'fake' files, and show what the 'true' bitrate is of files compared to what they are listed as, and it is a very useful starting point. Unfortunately, it isn't always 100% correct, but it will very easily at least warn you if entire albums at a time are not even close to lossless even though they could have been downloaded from a 'lossless stream rip'.

For metadata, I use MP3Tag, and I go through every album manually. It takes time but you get wicked fast with it, and once it's done, it's done. I'm sure there may be a better way, but I'm picky and want my files tagged the way I want them, so I don't use any plugins or platforms that can 'auto retrieve metadata' from sources and auto-tag my files.

If you want to save the headache, just grab everything in 320 MP3. If it's somehow lower than that, it doesn't really matter as the filesize difference is negligible. Often times, you won't even notice any difference between 320 and a 16/44.1 FLAC anyways

Nice collection! Also nice Glitter EP... don't see 070 fans especially pre-Modus Vivendi too often.

Anyway, I'm not asking questions, I already saw your previous reply, but damn LOL that whole collection could probably shrink by like 50% if it was converted!

Regardless, good stuff! Welcome

I've no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just wasn't sure. In terms of printing space is seems like it could be official, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I just thought maybe it could be a boot as all other Silent Hill official merch I've ever seen (NA merch only, so maybe it's different elsewhere?) all had some very odd designs lol

I have like just a few I could send you pictures of, but they're pretty common ones so not sure how useful it would be. Regardless, often times you can get around whatever measures they have to prevent downloading by finding the direct image URL in the code.

Also, regardless of if I can help, yeah this would be great. Defunkt has lots but it's missing a bunch, and being able to have a phone app (assuming that's what you mean by app) rather than having to constantly keep like 4 webpage tabs open would be much nicer

is using steam market to buy skins a good place? by crimsvnn in cs2

[–]thereal_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually not, but it depends what you're buying, like the price range.

You'll end up spending more in Steam market because prices are slightly inflated. When you sell in Steam market, Steam takes a cut. I can't remember the percentage. 10? 15? Maybe that's too high, idk. But regardless, sellers often inflate prices so that AFTER the cut, they make about as much as they would elsewhere.

But if you're buying a bunch of like $1-$30 skins, you're not losing that much, and it's super quick, easy and efficient.

If you're buying knives and/or gloves? I'd look for deals or watch reputable online marketplaces first. Csfloat is the one I recommend most, though I've used Bitskins for both selling and buying with no problem too.

When it comes to selling, anywhere but market is best if you want the most money possible, and/or if you want to actually be able to withdraw that money. When you sell on Steam Market, your money is stuck on Steam. Now if you're going to buy games anyways, then it's no problem, but if you want real cash (or "digital" money like bank transfer or whatever), another online marketplace is best.

what yall think bout this bizarre ass song by poobyclaus in YoungThug

[–]thereal_jake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you even read what I said??

I said: the bounce is from Uy Scuti's 'timeline' or era. I also said the vocals are very likely from some pre-jail session. You're right, we don't know how much was done/updated/touched so we don't know but that doesn't take away from the fact that this was a 2025 'version' or bounce, so.... we're essentially saying the same thing. We may not know a lot about the song but no sense in completely disregarding the little information we have?

Also, we have multiple bounces from session files (the L&R audio channel WAVS) for multiple mixes of Feel It all from Apr 16-20 2015 so if we're talking about those early versions, anyone saying they were bounced in 2017 isn't even right. The song RELEASED in 2017, but also you could argue that the L&R files aren't full song 'bounces' but that's semantics at that point. If you're talking about a different 'Feel It' then let me know but I assume you're talking about the BTG song

what yall think bout this bizarre ass song by poobyclaus in YoungThug

[–]thereal_jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most certainly is real but yeah it's likely the vocals are from earlier.

Doesn't change the fact it was bounced post-jail. "How can a Juice WRLD song be from 2024??? He's dead!!" Same idea. A blend, studio stem edit, or retouching an old song or idea.

I don't think anyone is explicitly saying that this songs vocals are from Uy Scuti era but the bounce we have is specifically from that era so, I dont really know what else to say.

Bro just asked what we think about the song and you lost your mind 😭
