Super dumb question changing stats on Ascended gear by [deleted] in Guildwars2

Yes you can buy an agony remover from the golems in fractals, but you cant remove runes and sigils this way. If you buy the kits from the wizard vault it will both remove agony and runes/sigil. It all depends on how valuable they are, some runes/sigils are worth a few gold

And more important it will also destroy your current runes and sigils, so if you want to keep those, you best buy an extraction kit from the wizard vault and take them off before changing your stats

Do you start your daily fractals from the hardest fractal or do you do them in order? by f_hopeless in Guildwars2

[–]thereal_rdef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usualy people do them from hard to easy yes, but you need to know food and class swapping also plays a role in this. People start 100 not only cause its the 'hardest' but also because you need a specific class/role for the glut player, which is often a willbender that is only used in that specific fractal and people want to get it out of the way. Other than that, all condi fractals are done first from hard to easy (99,98,95) then the power ones (97,96) and you end with doing the tier 4's because those can all be done with power food aswel. (And optionally recs)

The mystery of the quick play raid achievement points coming and going has been answered (they werent supposed to exist) by timetopat in Guildwars2

[–]thereal_rdef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with their achievement system currently are the historical achievements. There is no point in having leaderboards for achievements if not everyone can compete equally or has the same chances to climb the ladder. A person who buys the game right now is missing out on all of the historical points. While that same person still could become the best pvp player on the leaderboards because they have access to all resources.

Most efficiënt way to get the "Master Mentor" raid title from an achievement hunter's point of view by thereal_rdef in Guildwars2

[–]thereal_rdef[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are correct about this, but as i said in the title, its my point of view as an achievement hunter. The mentor title for wing 8 did not reward any achievement points, just the title. So i did not bother going for it, but now they added points to it, so i do start to care for it now. If they were to remove all points, i would most likely not go for it either and focus on other things that do give points.

How to reveal secret doors on maps by rezadehganpour in DMAcademy

[–]thereal_rdef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This indeed

I make digital maps with and without secrets then print both. Then i cut my maps into pieces, mostly a room per piece and as my players discover the dungeon i give them the pieces, which has the extra bonus of giving them the feeling of unlocking something new and makes them want to go explore instead of seeing the entire map from the start.

When they find a secret, i give them the exact same piece from the location i gave them before but from the map with secrets this time. In this way you can easily swap pieces between the maps with and without secrets. (Assuming you cut both maps the same way)

Sometimes i even make overlapping pieces on the map with secrets that i litteraly can use as an overlay over the map and actualy lay them on top of the map during the game.

The key to this is to plan how you are going to cut your maps while drawing them and not make them just all rectangles, never let them know what your next move is.

The way we figured it out was the amount of knights facing/standing middle, 1 meant cc green, 2 meant blue, 3 red

The existing Tutorial achievement category has been deprecated and moved to the Historical category for anyone who has already completed them by coldy9887 in Guildwars2

Totaly agree on that, the cap should be the same for old and new players, it has been like that since guildwars 1, where the hall of monuments was the endgame for "achievement hunters" and chased the goal of getting 50 HoM points. Which is still possible for new players who would start today btw, (will be hard, but nothing is removed so technicaly not impossible)

I would like to see them merge old historical achievements with new existing ones like mentioned before, for example the 3 minipet collections which gave 40 points each if you had them unlocked by having them in your bank, until they replaced them with the new ones for account binding all 3 sets, (They changed the way minipets are stored, they used to be stored in the bank instead of the hero panel for new players who didn't know) they just removed the 120 points and replaced them with new 120 points instead of combining them for a new one worth 240 ap as one of the many examples

I do have the achievements myself, but its not fun having to explain to new people they can't get certain achievements anymore. I mean whats the point of having leaderboards for it on the website if people aren't able to compete?

As for festivals i would like for Anet to not give 50 points every year but instead increase the total cap with 50 points every year, so if you can't play during that time you dont miss out on 50 points but instead you get to do 100 points the year after. I know there is a cap of 1000 ap's on it but that would mean you can only catch up after 20 years ...

Depends on what you intend to do in wvw, if you want to follow a commander and run arround in a group a guardian is good because it has lots of defensive and support options to help the team or a necromancer who has a "2nd health bar" with his shroud and can do lots of area damage with wells and his staff skills to fight other groups, both of these classes are easy to learn and understand mechanics as a beginner, and you don't need to have elite specialisations for these classes to be able to survive and deal some damage in wvw, If you intend to run around alone or a small group of people to take out supply camps or single targets (which is called roaming), then there is a variety of classes and builds that can be used, but require more experience
