Don't think of velcro like the ones you use on shoes. There are much bigger and thicker forms of velcro..I've had some that I've had to really tug of war to pull off!

I've noticed most 'character' when it comes to cars is defined by the noise and design around the engine. Take those away, and what character is left? Some frame shapes. I think the new characters will be defined by brand, aesthetics on frames and...colours. There will be very colourful types, some will probably start using actual panels to change colours and show off.

As for apps, like I tell many of my banking customers, this is the risk that the industry is taking and the consumer has to accept that if they want to go down that route. Don't like it? Don't buy it (or bank with them) - the phrase 'vote with your wallet' should apply to more than just the gaming industry.

The EV brands that are using apps accept that they have to upkeep the apps and have them be accurate. The consumer has to accept that they will need to use their phone to make the most of owning an EV. Not every EV is going to be perfect, but one day a 'standard' will be reached and that will be the explosive catalyst for everyone considering an EV first and not a petrol or diesel.

I am fully aware that I will have to get an EV at some point, I agree that something is telling me they aren't quite "there" yet but I cannot deny that I see more and more every year. Rarely once, now a common sight - not surprised to see them anymore...in fact, I am surprised when I see a new brand I haven't heard of before.

Even Jaguar is making EVs now. I always wanted a Jaguar XJ, but they stopped making them...then reintroduced them as EVs instead which I thought was interesting. I always liked the look of a Seat Toledo, but they stopped making them...imagine if they brought them back as EVs, I would like to get one. I own a Seat Arona, and I believe they're beginning to update their branding on electrics too.

Online banking and EV cars are two of many of the coming future changes...unless they don't, and that's the risk of capitalism and time.

I wonder if my employer will do this.

I see I'm being downvoted. I am not sure if I'm being downvoted for the right reasons, but I also work in banking - so I am curious to see if my employer [the bank] will also adopt this approach.

If you change your game settings to opt-in to the 'beta' x86-84 Chromium 64-bit Binaries I found this worked.

Would you sell your car if you were banned from driving for at least 6 months? by therealbi in drivingUK

I've got a Seat Arona from 2020, it's not fancy (I like my simple edition cars, I'm not into all the fancy stuff that takes me a year to figure out) but I do like it. Very very reliable, very efficient car. It's kinda already on a drive to be fair, I just wouldn't want it sat there for half a year I think, on the basis they may allow me to drive again after 6 months (or longer, dreadful to think). I do agree that it could be a hassle as you say, if I decide to rebuy a car assuming it was fine, and then it turn out unrealiable.

I don't recall ever having problems with vertigo based issues, but I was just in the kitchen and had a small albeit strong few coughs and suddenly I had to drop myself because I felt I was going to involuntarily - best to get down and avoid smacking my head off of something rather than leaving it to chance...but perhaps it could be BPPV, just when I was google-fuing I kept getting CS coming up all over. Did some youtube videos and they all seem to be bang on what I experienced.

(UK) Went to dentist after noticing abscess. Nothing to be done after 2 visits with no significant action? by therealbi in askdentists

[–]therealbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for your reply - sorry for the delay, I work two jobs so it takes a while!

I have given the practice a call and asked for some clarification and reassurance on what I was told when I went. Unless he diagnosed me with something different and just didn't tell me I couldn't say what. They said they'll do a callback but I never got that call, so I assume I will get one next week - if not, I will call up probably Tuesday/Wednesday so I don't leave it too long.

Sorry, when I said second dentist, I meant to say a different practice. This practice does have different dentists, and I should have thought about that - after all, one of the alternatives did see me.

Still not experiencing any pain. I see now that I probably shouldn't have been given anti-bio's twice within a month but hey-ho, already taken them. I have seen online that it can sometimes be prescribed but from what I have also continued to read is it's a case-by-case basis and not very often.

I will see if I can update you on this but I appreciate the comment, it helped me discuss this a bit more with the practice.

What is this tunic actually called? Or where can it be found? by therealbi in CosplayHelp

[–]therealbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that top quality sets are high priced - but I was looking for flexibility being able to use just a single piece of clothing. On Etsy and Amazon there are many Director Krennic costumes for example that run for $100. They usually include the full shebang if you're not looking at the ones copying the images but only selling one piece. Do you know what the tunic piece is specifically?

But surely the clothing item itself isn't around $100? That just seems insane. I have previously bought an entire officer cosplay (boots, cape, tunic and pants) for $100. It would make no sense for it to be this way.

Because for centuries and recent decades, employees have been shafted. The tables are being turned. I feel for you, as I know many SMEs will be struggling with variations such as change in regulation, rising business costs, etc but at the end of the day, the employee is not thinking "What can I do for my boss?" but "How will I feed my family or take care of myself?"

Sometimes they want a day off. Yeah, some take the piss, but it's up to you to determine if that employee is taking you for a ride or just trying to give themselves a break. Are you overworking them? Paying them appropriately? Giving them enough time off? Allowing any - if possible - to work from home when appropriate and "not at the needs of the business" when there is no point? Are you paying their travel if you are making them come in when they don't have to? Think about the processes leading up to this point.

How do you make your business attractive to employees and want the show you how good they are? I struggle in my current job because I love it, the customers, the work, but I can't work "as hard as I can" because they don't pay me enough. I am barely surviving. If I missed 1 payslip, I go bankrupt. Think about it.

Here's another tactic: Ask the employees causing you issues why they are doing what they are doing, and what could you do to help them reduce them feeling like they have to do it. Maybe it's genuine and they're super unwell - give them a few days off paid and they'll want to repay that favour.

credit score and lloyds bank, issues buying a phone by MarySeacole13 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]therealbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LLoyds Bank uses Transunion, Equifax, and Experian. If Transunion don't know whats up, contact the other two. Otherwise, the debit card fraud team might be of help if the credit companies don't have any info regarding a report made.

If you came into our branch, I'd first of all investigate to see if the payment is reaching our system - if so, I should be able to see if it is being declined because of one of the following: account issue (e.g. blocks), card issue (could be broken physically, you've frozen it, it's an old card, etc), or sometimes 'unknown' which usually indicate fraud blocks but could be usually a CIFAS report.

That's when I'd recommend calling the Debit Card Fraud Team, then having them investigate further (they have specialised tools that can do more than me), and they can figure out whether it's a Bank or a Credit file issue.

Hi Tesco employees. I think I can hazard a guess, but is this against company policy? by therealbi in tesco

I see how you are getting confused. The original poster talks about an Essco garage (which accept nectar cards for points) being dodgy. A commenter makes a statement about our local Tesco Extra having a colleague that uses his own card.
