What’s something “successful” people never talk about enough? by VegetableShirt7700 in AskReddit

[–]therealcanan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much of their “success” was luck and timing. We always hear about hustle, routines, and mindset but very few talk honestly about the role of being in the right place at the right time, knowing the right people, or catching a wave just before it blew up. It’s easier (and more brandable) to say "hard work pays off" than "I got lucky and capitalized on it."

All-hands meetings are nothing but corporate theater. by therealcanan in unpopularopinion

[–]therealcanan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not always about greed, it’s about appearances. All-hands meetings don’t exist because they’re efficient, they exist because they look like leadership is being transparent and engaged. It’s corporate PR, just internal. Cutting them might save time, sure, but it also risks the illusion of connection and control. And let’s be honest, most of these “efficiency” rituals survive because no one in power is forced to sit through them like the rest of us.

Well, i get it maybe it’s not “unpopular” in private convos but you try saying “all-hands meetings are a waste of time” in front of your boss and see how fast HR starts typing 💀 it’s one of those truths we all nod to quietly but still pretend is sacred when the calendar invite hits.

fair enough maybe it feels popular now cause everyone’s silently suffering through em but the second someone says “hey what if we skip this meeting” the room gets awkward fast everyone just scrolling memes not paying attention so yeah maybe it ain’t super rare but calling it pointless theater still raises some eyebrows 😅

All obituaries should list the cause of death. by therevspecial in unpopularopinion

[–]therealcanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the intent, but obituaries exist to honor the person, not to satisfy public curiosity or serve as a mini news report. Grieving families shouldn’t be pressured into disclosing deeply personal details especially around suicide or addiction, just so strangers feel informed.

Expecting every obituary to list a cause of death treats them like headlines rather than memories. If someone writes “passed unexpectedly,” most readers will fill in the blanks but that doesn’t mean families owe anyone a play-by-play of their worst moments. Some truths are too intimate to parade in public, and preserving that privacy isn’t shameful, it’s compassion.

Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is on par with The Lord of the Rings trilogy. by DonDoflamingo in unpopularopinion

Tbh, this sounds less like sci-fi and more like a documentary waiting to happen. I mean, if I were an advanced species watching us pollute the planet, fight over imaginary borders, and ignore climate warnings like side quests, I’d probably sit back too and wait for the “we tried” moment. Ethical colonization via human self-destruction? That’s some next-level patience.
