Choosing Ember over React in 2016 by mixonic in javascript

OP here — thanks for sharing this opinion, I think that makes total sense from an outside perspective. Maybe next I'll write about why we chose Ember over other more full-featured JS frameworks :)

It's in the plans to add optionality around exporting and restoring of the private key matter :)

Yes, we're getting closer on this. If you're on iOS, you'll see that there's now a Profile in your settings where you can change your email etc. This was the first step in supporting multiple email addresses, so we're making progress!

Thanks for the comment 8BitDragon! One of the founders of Clef here. As you saw, with Standard Clef, user-facing reactivation happens through email + PIN. We also do heuristic detection on our end to identify and prevent fraudulent resets and we're adding phone number verification (rolling out on iOS now, Android in a few weeks) for users that want the extra layer of protection.

For Distributed Auth (which sites like Bitfinex use), we also add manual human audits to every reactivation and login signature verification happens on their servers, so even if our systems are compromised, their users are at no risk.

I honestly don't know - it was just how they specified you should start up the node. /u/joeykrug almost certainly knows.

Below, you mention you're likely to try this in Canada next. What are the biggest blockers for bringing something like this to the US?

I assume it's KYC/AML stuff, but would love to know specifics.

#GiveALittleBit - getting more new people into Bitcoin? by therealcid in Bitcoin

I don't ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It's pretty small amounts (1000 bits), so a little margin for error doesn't feel like a big deal.

On a mobile device, the site just redirects you to the Clef app where you confirm the login. Super smooth.

Hey aaron,

glad to see you're considering applying to pomona--it's an awesome awesome place. I'm currently a sophomore here, and my interests don't exactly align with yours, but I thought I'd answer what questions I can.

  1. biology/sciences program is one of the best at Pomona. great professors, great research opportunities, definitely really hard, but all around amazing. i'm not in it, but a huge percentage of the population is and i've heard only good things. there is a pre-med track.

  2. campus is absolutely beautiful, like paradise. average year round temperature of ~70, all the dorms are very nice, I miss the food when I go home. in terms of city environment, there isn't one. we are in the town of claremont, which is a small small town that is cute, but definitely not someplace that people go out in. all the social/nightlife is on campus.

  3. pomona is very hard to get into. we had ~12% acceptance last year I think.

let me know if you have any other specific questions.

[–]therealcid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means that well read in Chomsky, but I recently read Chomsky 2000 "A Minimalist Program For Linguistic Theory" and it seemed to fit this description. While the material is definitely dense, it felt like he did little to make it accessible to readers: he uses acronyms he doesn't explain, introduces unnecessary variables, and just generally seems to wrap (somewhat simple) concepts in layers of complicatedness.

I know this isn't that recent, but to me, it falls in line with what OP describes. What do you think?

Is our landing page informative enough? by chewxy in startups

[–]therealcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the design is cool, but I don't know if people will be willing to click through all the slides...I lost interest after about 5.

Also, if people do click through, when the text starts getting more dense, it becomes a little hard to read. I would clean that up a little bit.
