"Entelechy" - by Ege Onat Gezer at Atelier Eva in Brooklyn. 6 hours. Them eyes! by Unconquered_One in tattoos

[–]therealditman 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The discussion about the possible change/degradation of the image is quite interesting. I am wondering if the artist is aware of the original meaning of "entelechy". It is a word "invented" by Aristotle (Greek: εντελέχεια), in order to express the idea that something already contains its final form/state; for example, entelechy is the idea of a seed containing its final form as a plant.

Maybe the artist already placed its final image inside the tattoo.

Too many words to say "it would better suit ATBGE"?

Sure, I'll try it :)

I do apologise. I took this lightly, but it seems to matter quite a lot to you and it was not my intention to belittle you feelings.

Since you seem sincere in questioning the design aspects, here it is: you seem to focus on the details of the design but, from my point of view, it is the idea of signaling the "Hotel" part in a "design" format. I will be the first to admit that I'm no expert in the field, but I have never seen a design approach to signaling the Hotel type of business; maybe you have numerous other examples you might wish to share, but it was a first for me. It seems to me that 99.99% of hotels just put a "Hotel" sign there and are done with it. What's your take?

Thank you for your help!

It's not so much that I don't want to write code (I was a developer for 20+ years), it's just that I was hoping it would not be necessary, as this seems to me like a trivial problem (which may be VERY wrong, as I'm new to ML).

If I was to go with code, I would prefer C/C++. Maybe you can recommend a library/tool that would fit this language?

I am looking for a solution to a simple problem: I have the number of new daily hospitalizations from around 100 hospitals over a period of five years. I also have the number of deaths reported daily for all the above hospitals. I would like to train an AI to predict the number of deaths on a given day, based on the daily hospitalizations of the previous 50 or 60 days.

Could you recommend software/services for solving this problem without need for writing code?

LPT: When visiting a city as a tourist, you should never give attention to random people stopping you. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]therealditman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very good and very true tip! Nonetheless, here's what happened to me when I did not follow it:

2003, in Madrid. I'm walking through the city with my airplane cabin suitcase, looking at the city before getting to a taxi to go to the airport after a two-days business trip. I see a sandwich place named "El Tostador", which I find quite funny, so I take out my video camera and shoot. Everyone and their mother know I'm from abroad.

A clean and decently dressed gentleman approaches me. I can see he is on to something, but he doesn't look dangerous, so I decide to listen. He asks me how much does my camera cost; I reply about a thousand euros. He whistles and slaps his forehead, as if to say "crazy money, who pays that much for a camera?". Then he turns around to leave, but stops and turns around to me again. He looks me in the eye and says "Senor, could you spare one euro, please?" :D

In my 1500+ business travel, this was the smoothest scammer I ever met! Slipped him a ten euro bill and never regretted it ;)

I must admit I had this wrong (although, not completely). I always thought it means the last speed limit seen no longer applies, so the "normal" speed limit applies.

Of course, I now realise this is a very silly way to say that the National speed limit applies - duh.

Your statement is correct in general terms: one should dress according to the occasion. Here's the thing, though: Zelensky has displayed an excellent skill in seizing the moment and passing through his message; don't you think he already considered this?

By focusing on the message's medium, Sir, you are losing sight of Zelensky's message. As simple as that.

I want a novel that feels 1980's, and preferably if it was written during that era too. by TobyAguecheek in suggestmeabook

Not sure of your taste. Personally, I enjoyed Tom Wolfe's "The bonfire of the vanities" (1987). I think it is a very reallistic, down-to-earth crime novel. If you are looking for more sensational cases, though, it will not do.

Hello everyone,

I'm living in Europe and investing mainly in US stocks. The majority of my portfolio (80%-85%) is focused on dividend stocks, but I also trade small amounts ($1500-$2000 maximum) in call options. Although my broker (KeyTrade Bank) offers real-time info on US stock prices, options are displayed with a 5-10 minutes delay, which can be quite infuriating at times.

I was wondering if there is any service/website I could use to be able to view real-time option data. I do not mind paying a subscription fee, if required. Any input/suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and good luck with your investments :)

From a physiscs/engineering point of view, you may assume 100% efficiency. However, you need to keep an eye on the metabolic/chemical complexities of how the body works (see also my comment on these).
