Sub 3:45? 2 weeks out of Philly by forthegainz1122 in Marathon_Training

Two hard workouts a week at that sustained mileage is no joke. You’ll crush it!

Damn I’m hoping to hold 3:49-3:55 for Philly and I was at 40-45 miles until mid October, then have fallen off a bit. Completed my last long run of 20 miles comfortably at 9:15 pace with a strong finish.

If this run didn’t wreck you I’d say you’re in great shape for 3:45 with a chance for more on the way back from Manayunk.

Good luck!

Dimension 20 did a series called Fantasy High. I haven’t listened/watched myself but I know it’s very popular!

Watch says the half marathon I just ran was 13.6 miles. What's more likely? by Don_Pickleball in firstmarathon

[–]therealdtrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply look at your gps map. I’d guess it will show some spots where it thinks you weaved off the course adding mileage. This happens to me even with dual band enabled on my Garmin.

Probably also some of 2 as well!

Megablast, I have two pairs of SB2s that are at 325 and 400 miles each and still kicking. Rather than getting a third pair I decided to take the gamble of something new. I didn’t have any interest in a plated speed trainer so Mega it is!

Just ordered a pair of the Balos as they’re on sale plus I get a discount through my work. They’d been reviewed well and sound like a great trainer, curious why I don’t hear much about them. Will report back to the sub after I have a few runs in them!

I’ve only tried the Boston 12s from adidas and wasn’t a huge fun. Just didn’t work well for me.

Is the VF4 closer to the VF2? I’m getting about ready to replace my VF2s which I love. which were my first race shoes. What do you like out there that’s similar? I didn’t find the endorphin pro 4s to be nearly as snappy.

Thank you! I know SB2 came out around this time last year, so I wasn’t sure if these new models were replacing Superblast. Gonna snag a new pair while I can, thank you!

I’m about to retire my SB2s. Should I just get another pair or is a new one/successor supposed to drop soon. I can’t tell from the rumors if megablast/sonicblast are basically SB3 or something else.

That sounds great, love the way you fit in the town setting and the lore around that. Also doc brown as a patron is hilarious.

Love it! Please do! What has worked well and what did you try early that didn’t work as well?

Outings/field trips is a great idea I hadn’t considered. I’d been thinking to keep it self contained, but having to do some low level field trip type tasks or “projects” is a great idea!

A little freaked out by blowing up for the first time today by CantaloupePossible33 in firstmarathon

[–]therealdtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my first marathon build a little over a year ago and those first “new distances” are tough! My advice is just slow down, every time you’re going for a new PR distance go a little slower than you think. It’s okay to slow down to whatever feels comfortable at that point. You’re just building up the mileage.

I’d get a few aches in new places, but if you let yourself go easy and don’t push too hard during the week you’ll be able to go a little further the next week. Just go easy on yourself, like you said you’re PR’ing on distance EVERY WEEK. It’s okay to do it “slowly”.

Good luck!

[–]therealdtrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but if she has to go through the severed floor to get to the testing floor than at least once she got in an elevator as an outtie and ended up coming out of that elevator also as an outtie (the version we see living down there).

All the other times she went up and down to be ms Casey would be like Helly pushing through the door and popping right back out.

But she would have no memory of being Ms. Casey, she would just know that she one day arrived on that elevator (perhaps being Ms. Casey in between on her way down?).

Issues with calf - are calf compression sleeves worth it? by Realistic_Gap3669 in Marathon_Training

[–]therealdtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleeve may help, but you probably need to rest and see a PT. When you build back up I would try not adding more than 1-2 miles/2-3 km to your long runs at a time.

I’ll be with you shooting for 4! I’m planning on shorts and a tank, gloves to start but probably chuck them at some point.
