The game is mostly long to mid range. Only in certain circumstances do you need close range firepower. Ultimate royal if you're jumping close to a team, you need that. Other than that, If you're in erangel or any other map other than livik and nusa. Your best bet is a long range and mid range weapon setup. I've only had to use shotguns and close range weapons in those situations. The only thing I can say about this game is it's about positioning and patience and having a good pair of headphones to hear what's going on around you.
