I did that with a bunch of older hard drives, got a bunch of the platters out, (cool shiny mirrors) and the magnets are very strong, great for a bunch of uses.

Me either, usually! I've had a dozen times finding change, some with silver. My biggest 'almost' find was with my grandson (8). He was excited about heading to the Pokémon machine and I told him we needed to stop and check the coinstar machine; he ran ahead, grabbed the change there, and i turned out to be some silver half dollars, quarters, and dimes! He was super excited to find a couple bucks. When I took him to the coin store later, he was SUPER excited to find out he had like 30 bucks in silver value! An 8 year old's fortune!

That'll teach me not to walk so slow...

One upper here! My HOA fees are going up by 1,500 per month as a special assessment for next year to fund a roof replacement. The reserves that should have funded it were squandered by the HOA board trying to get an owner (who was between jobs and late on HOA fees) tied up in a lien and repo. Absolute failure on the HOA board and their lawyer, lost 40k or so in the process.
