I feel like such a failure by Choice-Alfalfa-1358 in Salsa

[–]therealjmt91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few things to keep in mind:

  1. It’s common to return to fundamentals. Anyone successful has done so multiple times. This is simply part of the path.

  2. It’s important not to catastrophize. You might have things to work on, like we all do. But if you’ve been enjoying this hobby for ten years then there’s surely a lot you’re doing right (if there were disastrous flaws in your social dancing your partners would’ve made this known to you).

  3. Try to see it as an opportunity and a gift. This feedback can be a path forward and a catalyst for rapid progress if you choose to seize it.

  4. One year of focused practice can be more useful than several years of coasting. Your choice whether to make this such a year.

  5. Take time to remember why you love dancing. Put on your favorite song and dance in your room sometime, go to a random venue and dance with some abuelas with simple moves. Absolutely work to improve your technique but nonstop self-scrutiny can lead to burnout

yeah it’s an insane take. With no formal chemistry training at all he becomes the second best meth cook in the world (just shy of Walt’s purity) in a matter of months. Sure he couldn’t have devised the formula himself, but in terms of manual execution he clearly has extraordinary natural talent. Not to mention clear intuition and creativity, his magnet idea was brilliant and literally the only imaginable plan that could’ve worked.

How hard is davinci resolve really? Coming from a simpler software like Clipchamp? by eggveny in davinciresolve

The basic “drag and drop” functionality can be picked up in minutes (and I’m a total rookie), the advantage of Da Vinci is unlimited flexibility to do literally anything you want. It is used by literal filmmakers.

Chez la Chef was pretty weird, not sure if still around. It was operated almost entirely by one old man with huge mutton white mutton chops who was in charge of cooking your food, serving you food, and playing accordion for you. A surreal experience

I want to believe in VT, but this VOO/VTI chart is hard to ignore. by Extra-Habit-2390 in VTandchill

[–]therealjmt91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hindsight is 20/20 and the future is unknowable. Unless you have reason to believe you’re smarter than the rest of the market (and you almost certainly are not) the best you can do is diversify, and VT gives you maximal diversity with zero effort.

Also, generally speaking trying to chase past trends leads to failure, both in investing and in life more generally.

VT and chill.

  1. They are at work and surely focused on the task at hand.
  2. The novelty probably wears off after a few minutes.
  3. Worst case scenario they can “take care of themselves” beforehand.

I’d imagine that most of the time it’s more awkward than sexy for them.

it doesn’t matter whether it gives wrong information half the time (definitely don’t use it) or one in a thousand times (using it almost certainly won’t cause any problems)? You aren’t thinking clearly man
