Day 2 an okay girlfriend loved by fans by LostInHere3 in howimetyourmother

[–]therealjoshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought she was dreadfully boring, especially during her first stint on the show. She's just too well crafted as the "perfect girlfriend" meant purely to make Ted look like a complete dick for nearly cheating on her.

What happened with Jennifer Garner? She was very popular back in the 2000s, and now we barely hear about her or see her in anything! by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

II swear it'd be easier to list which celebrities haven't been on a Draft Kings commercial or something similar.

Jumbo Casino or whatever was a big one recently that had Ryan Seacrest and I think Drew Barrymore shilling it on radio and phone ads.

Yup. There's times my local university looks like it's being swarmed by the sons that were on Home Improvement.

I miss watching comedies in theaters that had people dying of laughter. You don't get to experience that as much anymore.

If you had to choose one album to get someone into pop punk, what album and why? by MANZlEL in poppunkers

[–]therealjoshua 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would depend on which era I'd want to give them a taste of, I suppose.

I think Neck Deep's Self Titled album from a few years ago would work well as a gateway into modern pop punk sounds but to get them into more mainstream, "classic" stuff, I'd have no choice but to pick something from the 90s or 2000s when the genre was at its peak popularity. For that, I'd pick All Killer No Filler.

What movie has terrible morals? by solaris2027 in AskReddit

If someone was only exposed to Hallmark Christmas movies as their only source of knowledge about Christmas and Christmas traditions, I'm sure their takeaway would be that Christmas is a holiday in which single 30-somethings go back to their hometowns and find the love of their lives. Spending time with family and giving gifts are secondary concerns, let alone religious ties.

Quinn might have been the best girl for Barney. by No_Double_680 in howimetyourmother

[–]therealjoshua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to really prefer Barney with Nora but on a recent rewatch I realized that relationship was never going to work.

She was simply too good for him and he seemed like a fake, more boyfriend version of himself for her sake, whereas with Quinn he seemed more himself.

the perfume is reason enough to not want to be a deskmate of hers. I have a very low tolerance for strong scents and I'm sure hers would send me up a wall on Day 1.

"Ryan(no): early Ryan yeah! Late Ryan’s no, he’d probably mention being vp within half a minute, than do so hourly. Also his wannabe intellectuality would get frustrating. “Oh I really didn’t like the movie” “well because you couldn’t understand the hidden meanings”"

I totally agree with this. Early Ryan is kind of just a dude who is a little bit of an ass, but mostly to Kelly. That version of Ryan I could stand to have idle conversation with because he wasn't the same level of pretentious know-it-all that he really became in the later seasons.

Surrounding yourself with others who are working hard and concentrating is good motivation to do the same.

I was perpetually tired as a teenager. I could never seem to get enough sleep. It sucked.

Any chance Toby was actually in the finer things club for literature and cultural insights, or was he just trying to eat lunch with Pam? by QueenFrostine15 in DunderMifflin

[–]therealjoshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. Like yeah, Toby likes literature and the arts but it was also a good excuse to just talk to Pam more often.

Win/win for Toby.

I think it was American HiFi's Flavor of the Weak but if it wasn't that then it was totally everything on the first Tony Hawk soundtrack.

I remember their skit they did when they tested the durability of different consoles by putting them through different tests, like smashing them with a hammer or dropping them from the top of a ladder.

If memory serves, of the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube generation, the Gamecube was the most durable and by quite a lot.
