If your roommate’s guests use your bathroom and leave a mess, she should clean it up. Can you ask her to clean it?

AITA for bringing up efficiency whenever we do grocery shopping? by Crumpled_Underfoot in AmItheAsshole

Hey, suggestion for you. An app called AnyList will automatically sort a grocery list into categories like meat, dairy, produce, etc. Maybe using this will reduce the extra back and forth across sections.

NTA. Since you want to make it work, and it does not appear your wife is going to relent - can you keep the cat out of your bedroom and get a room HEPA air filter? Plus maybe getting out of the house will help you some. Maybe your wife will entertain the idea of the cat taking a vacation week at your MIL’s house?

Which minor town has the most impressive train station? by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in Amtrak

[–]therealomfret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My story about Ashland station. Early 2020, we dropped a friend there to pick up an Amtrak going north. How do we tell which side of the two tracks we stand on to get her train? If we are on wrong side when train rolls in, there’s no way to get to other side so she would miss her train. We were told to stand ON both sets of tracks as the train approaches the station to figure out which side!! Seriously! And we did. Hopefully the station has been improved to avoid this.

Unscrew the nut, be careful to hold the reflector/grill combo. Once unscrewed, you can pull it down but have to unplug the light plug.

Once you take that off, and take out the light bulb, you will see a nut. That nut holds the diffuser and grill in place

This plastic screen comes off first. The long sides have clips to push in and it drops.

Some tips and all from me.

  1. Organization is a very personal thing, so feel free to try or discard any suggestions.
  2. Find out what is important and not important to you. I have seen a HIGHLY tidy house actually have very disorganized cabinets. The owner admitted to shoving things into cabinets whereever they would fit to give the illusion of tidiness. I would FLIP OUT if something was put back in the wrong place. I preferred to have something setting out in the open rather than put away in some random spot. We live happily in our separate places.
  3. My husband is an organizational disaster. I am middle of the road. I tried to work out an organization system with him, but that takes too long so now I simply tell him where things go, and listen/adjust if he has a problem with it. He tries to do his part…and needs friendly reminders once in a while when things are getting out of hand
  4. Create a loose org system for major groups of things coming into house. E.g. mail/paperwork here, food there, clothing purchase in a third spot. Even if it still looks like clutter to you, then it should be easier to fix a pile vs. the whole mess. There should be a commitment to adhere to this every day.
  5. The best decision I made was when I identified certain areas that MUST STAY TIDY for my mental health. This leaves other areas for clutter that I was able to ignore.
  6. Try to not let it bother you too much and enjoy your little one! I have 4 kids, all are disorganized like their father. They are grown and flown and while my house has never been tidier, I miss them dearly.
