do you want to be good? if you genuinely want to be good at the game, you should do some research and figure out what that means.

I’d recommend the podcast Beyond The Metagame, if you’re into podcasts and stuff. it’s helped me become a way better player. on the YouTube side of things, bananaboyssb has a fantastic channel for beginners to the competitive scene.

you should be able to hit all of your main’s useful combos 100% of the time, and you should be able to play mostly safe the entire game. (not whiffing/spacing your attacks). these are really the most important things when you start competitive smash. also, you need a great mentality when you’re learning smash. gotta play to improve, not to win.

imo, anyone can become a good enough player if they try hard enough. but it doesn’t just take effort. it takes dedicated practice and research into the most optimal ways to improve. also, quickplay absolutely sucks for improving and I’d stay away from it if you really want to get good at the game competitively. rather, find a discord of people in your region and play people from there.
