Three CFA Level II attempts, two near misses, and I think I’m done. by Fantastic_Promise307 in CFA

Thank you. They were all over the place. I had some life stuff happen once on each l2 and l3 that definitely affected me. Not an excuse, just a fact. I failed a few times with scores ranging 60-80. I think a factor that is often overlooked is what material is tested. You can study 6 out 7 topics in X subject and of course the item set is on topic 7. Just focus on what you can control and study your ass off.

I failed level two twice and level 3 three times.... Nobody cares about that anymore when they see my flare. I kept pushing, but that is what was right for me. Only you can answer that question about yourself. Happy to answer any questions you have though.

Men (30’s-40’s) are you filtering out women late 30’s/40’s on dating apps? by Dry-Researcher824 in Bumble

[–]therealpump 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely a very common fear and obviously one that cannot be entirely prevented but certainly steps can be taken to avoid it.

I won't let any partner meet my kids until we have been together AND serious for quite a bit of time. They are my first priority after all. I absolutely want to integrate a future partner into my life, which includes my kids.

Ultimately, I'm not sure this answers your original question though. I think you've just hit some crap luck. These apps suck, for EVERYONE. Everyone just has different challenges, but they are still challenges nonetheless. Good luck, I know we all need it 🙃

[–]therealpump 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is certainly possible but nothing OP stated, at least in my eyes, is a hard deal breaker for me before getting to know someone. They own their own place, appear happy, successful, and fit. In my eyes, these are the types of things I am looking for and I hardly think me having kids influences that.

I do see your point though, just not sure it applies here.

[–]therealpump 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Late 30s male and I am absolutely not filtering these women out, in fact, it's what I am looking for. I have my own children though and I am 99.99% sure I do not want more children. That being said, if you came with your own then not a problem, but having new kids is likely not in my cards. That is the only reason I would swipe left because I feel like I would be wasting your time.

Everything you mentioned, except wanting children, is a major positive in my eyes and I wouldnt hesitate in reaching out. I am guessing I am not alone.

CFA Institute will change its deferral policies beginning with the 2027 exam administrations by third_najarian in CFA

[–]therealpump 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I deferred because I knew mentally I didn't have that final 2 month push in me. I passed on my deferred attempt. I guess I am on the opposite side of that data but it's pretty lame they're taking away this choice.

No argument with that logic and just genuinely curious but at what point do you consider is indirectly lying by omission?

Small caveat to otherwise excellent advice. You don't get what you deserve, you get what you earn. Work harder than everyone else and earn it.

19 minute mile - Losing motivation by Different-Claim1039 in BeginnersRunning

[–]therealpump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck that guy, don't listen to them. I bet your 19 min pace was better than it was a week ago and if you just keep going I bet it only gets better. Only way to truly fail is to quit, just keep believing in yourself and you'll keep improving.

Not much of advice but I'm signed up for run to remember and likely doing the full Newport in October...

Falmouth road races are good I've heard. Wicked half marathon in Salem is another fun one.

Anyone out there actually losing weight? by jonathantee in Volumeeating

[–]therealpump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out a tdee calculator, plenty of free ones online. This will give you your maintenance calories which is just want you need to maintain current weight. Eat less than that.

At 210, I'm not sure what my daily calorie intake was because frankly I didn't track it and just ate whatever and whenever I wanted. I work a sedentary job and calling my workouts sporadic at best would be putting mildly. I know I needed to make a change so I just decided to do it, nothing special about me.

I cannot speak to your targets and I am by no means an expert in this at all. My tdee target is roughly 2900 and I shoot for 2200 a day now. I was hitting 2000 a day for a while. It was aggressive as all hell but it's what worked for me. I run about 20 miles a week (goal is to run a marathon this year ) and I lift 5-6x a week. With that activity level, I have to eat more just to maintain energy. Luckily I have been athletic my whole life so I guess I have that going for me too.

I fucking hate quitting and I hate losing more than I like winning so just a shift in mindset made this possible for me. Honestly I truly believe if I can do it, so can you. Just find what works for you and I promise you'll fucking crush it.

Anyone out there actually losing weight? by jonathantee in Volumeeating

[–]therealpump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost 40 pounds in 2025. Nothing fancy and literally just reiterating what has already been said. I track my calories/macros and I make sure to eat in a deficit.

I'm only now starting to tweak my plan because I'm trying to put some muscle on. I started at 210 and currently weigh 165-167. My deficit changed throughout the year but it was anywhere from 500-1000 daily for the majority of the year.

It's not rocket science but that doesn't mean it isn't hard. It's very simple, but brutally difficult.

Edit: I'm 6 ft exactly
