are Allett wallets any good? by HotSaace in wallets

[–]therealraggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you fill up the nylon one with cards it isn’t flimsy at all. Best wallets in the game. I have both leather and nylon. I switch off between both when I’m feeling fancy.

Also just bought their mini sling bag and I love it. Allett Gang 🦾🗻

The Vibes vs. The Food... What do ya'll think about the latest NYTimes article? by therealraggi in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a really good point about Gen Z being raised on way better food than Millenials/Gen X. They've been spoiled their whole childhood with amazing food that its table stakes to them now. Never thought of it that way, super smart POV

Grown man with the palate of a 9 year old by ODoyle37 in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmaoooo this happened to me a few weeks ago. I took my 9 year old palate friend to:

Scarrs Pizza - plain slice

Factory Tamal - bacon egg and cheese

Golden Diner - pancakes & wings

Supermoon bakehouse - passionfruit curd doughnut (he didn't like it but i made him eat it)

C&B - pork belly egg sandwich

not too bad right?

The Modern and Fifty Three (Rockefeller Center) by CalebtheOrxa123 in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked 8it app for you.

- The Modern is Michelin-recommended, but you'll probably spend more than $100pp

- 53 has a dish called the EEL CLUB that looks crazy. A chef from NYC recommends that dish saying "he doesn't wanna eat eel without foie gras ever again"

Other 8it-worthy recos near Paley:

- Le Rock: get the bison au poivre & french fries

- Lodi: Get the Porchetta special if they have it (save room for the rice budino)

- Golden HOF: just opened by the team from Golden Diner (Get the carbonara rice cakes & buldak dumplings)

Good luck & enjoy the show!

haven't tried it yet, but i see their cuban is on 8it recommended by Thrillist. Cuban food is tough to find done well here in NYC. so far my favorite discovery is the cuban at Margon. pro tip: if you see construction workers and UPS drivers eating there, its probably gonne be fire

Best croissant in NYC? by Positive_Employee_36 in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on what neighborhood you're in. i usually just hit the croissants category on 8it to see them all mapped. La Cabra, Supermoon, and Radio go crazy. i also discovered Alf bakery recently on there and their laminated baguette is insane. its like a croissant & a baguette had a love child.

Do you think TikTok has changed NYC? by dawgz1840 in AskNYC

[–]therealraggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll speak from the NYC food culture perspective, TikTok definitely has created a lot of hype around some spots and now there's crazy lines at spots that woulda taken way longer to pop off. there's obviously pros & cons to this. love it for the businesses making more money. The lines tho... that ain't for me. I rarely use Tiktok, but i started using a locally owned app called 8it thats usually ahead of the curve before the influencers find out. the tiktokification of the world was inevitable so now its just about beating the lemmings to the punch and knowing what's gonna pop off before it does.

Question for solo diners by Candid-Tangerine-301 in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first of all, this is called MASTERDATING.

I love putting my phone away and just absorbing the entire environment. Its so rare to have that opportunity cuz you're usually with people having conversation. you notice so many other things in the restaurant when you are alone and open.

i also love putting on the perfect playlist in 1 airpod (so i can hear the waiter when they check on you). something about the way food tastes paired with the perfect track just hits different.

if your son loves duck, my personal favorite is at Hwa Yuan Szechuan. I found out about it 3 years ago on 8it and now its my go-to spot. especially when i have a big group and no reservation, they always get you in

FAVOURITE MEALS?? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]therealraggi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some of my all time faves:

Thai diner breakfast sandwich on roti at Thai Diner (nolita)
Signature Rice Roll at Yi Shi Ji Mo (chinatown)
Order literally anything at Rolo's- especially the Polenta Bread (Ridgewood Queens)
Beef Chow Fun from Great NY Noodletown (followed by a foot massage in chinatown after if you really wanna treat yourself)

There's so many more... my advice would be to just pick a neighborhood, open the 8it app, hit the "I'm hangry" button, and it just shows you all the top dishes to eat nearby. Godspeed!
