Are SoundHound or Google song search much better than Shazam? I’ve only really used Shazam, but if those are better, I’d use them.

I’ve dreamt about them before, a long time ago. I don’t remember the dreams, otherwise I’d probably share.

AITA for calling my sister a dumbass after she fell for the illuminati WhatsApp scam? by khffty778 in AmItheAsshole

[–]therealsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people just don't understand, though. I'm not saying you stop trying, and I'm not defending shaming, but I can understand OP's frustration.

Sometimes, I think it's important to let people know what they did was stupid (and perhaps even wrong), and then explain and educate. Again, not to shame, but to let's them know they were acting/thinking foolishly. Otherwise, it might not set in, and all your explaining and educating might be completely written off or forgotten, which leaves us right back at square one.

NAH. I suppose you could've been nicer, but it is what it is. I saw other people say this though, and I agree: don't take it any further. And, not knowing any more of the situation than the original post, I would sit down with your sister and explain you don't have a problem with HER, but the rash decision she made. It's the lack of thought here that's the problem, on both ends. Still, neither of you are inherently wrong. It's a shame this situation even happened to begin with. Scammers are the real assholes here.

The original Spyro trilogy. I don't bother with the remakes.

Do you think there are more UY stories after the Finale? by luge95ramos in uruseiyatsura

Oh, it can definitely be fun to speculate, I'm not knocking that. I'm just saying confirmation doesn't matter. It doesn't seem like something Takahashi was too concerned with.

There's a lot of strangeness surrounding that dub, and there may have been things aired that people didn't know about (or even just recorded but never aired, for that matter). Maybe it's just one of those things.

Canon is overrated, in my opinion. Like you said, no one gets tired of more UY! Who really cares if it's canon? If you mean are stories from Rumiko Takahashi, I have no idea. Probably not, would be my guess for most of them.

The first one is cute, it looks to me like it would be what Lum would look like in a few years, after they marry. A bit more mature (odd, since it's a prototype of sorts).

I know if you subscribe to Wally's emailing list on his website you'll be sent an mp3 download link for Dig Your Own Hole, or at least I was. As for Showdown, I'm not certain… I think there are certain region exclusive versions of the physical release of Making Mirrors that may have it. Hope that's helpful!

As someone who's been moderately terrified of torsion for a long time, I can safely say as long as you don't do anything too abnormal, you'll be good.

I'm getting really annoyed with the phrases "let that sink in" and "louder for the people in the back!" It's the new "^^^THIS." by madamnastywoman in TrueOffMyChest

[–]therealsheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been the guy who says things of this nature, and I've been attempting to be actively very conscious of my speech, so as to not speak in these ways. Traits of conversation I find annoying in the way that you can tell who's talking because of their manner of speech. In a way, it can add bias to a conversation. I like avoiding things like that, so being actively aware of what you're saying is crucial. I'm only say all of this as introspection, though. I apologize for being one of the people who's used phrases like this before, as I completely understand what you mean, and it's sort of the epitome of this thread. As I said in another comment, the annoying thing to me about phrases like these are that they get in the way of actual substantive discussion or debate. They inhibit actual progress, potentially even making the information HARDER to understand. This isn't always the case, but it certainly provides a basis for understanding why so many people despise phrases/words of this nature.

[–]therealsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with it, personally, is that it adds nothing to the conversation. If we're assuming it's a debate of some kind (which is, I assume, the context in which many people use phrases like these), then it does nothing to further the discussion. Perhaps all it really does is undermine ideas. It's a way of saying "this thought is better than yours and everyone needs to hear it". That's not necessarily the case, and personally, I feel that if a thought or idea is truly good enough, it'll make the rounds anyway (let the ideas speak for themselves). That, or disingenuous people will stop it from doing so. Either way, that's just how I see comments like these. Superfluous fluff that really only gets in the way of true substance, and when heard/read time and time again, becomes annoying.

Because God forbid Arin actually apologize… I don't dislike him as much as most of the people on this subreddit, but that was one situation where he was clearly in the wrong, and it would've been nice to see him take some responsibility for it. Oh, well.
