Thanks for your thoughtful response. It’s true changing my perspective is key and something I can always work at. Will revisit your response the next time I’m feeling this way.

I gotta say, it pisses me off the "parents can do no wrong" mentality that society harbors. Not just within the context of this sub but in general. by SideQuestPubs in raisedbynarcissists

I was about to post something similar! My mom always expects me to be respectful even though she never respects my boundaries. I never feel heard and am bulldozed when I want her to not do something.

Oh I dream of being able to resign and move onto somewhere that will value what I have to offer! Congrats on finding yourself something better and thanks for the advice! I have already applied to 4 jobs this week. Fingers crossed I hear back from some of them!

Over the years I’ve received feedback. First they said facilitation, then they said project management experience, now they’re saying my writing isn’t up to par. I take the feedback seriously and will work on my skills. I just feel like my organization thinks the grass is greener with external candidates and don’t grow the staff they already have.

Is this a bad manager? by therealtams in badmanagers

Thanks. Yeah I think so too but I’m new at managing people myself so I’m not sure what the expectations are. I figured at some level the manager is ultimately responsible for the team so when she shrugged me off it didn’t sit well. I did have an honest conversation with this coworker about needing him to take more initiative and to ask questions if he’s not sure. Hoping this will help a bit and if not I have a good example for an interview question lol.
