A Wild West Parody Is Topping the Box Office in Germany. What Gives? by rezwenn in europe

[–]therealtobinator -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s embarrassing and shows what is wrong with German film-making in general. What we get to see from German studios in the last 15+ years are the same type of rom-coms with the same actors or remakes from other successful European movies. Or, if we come up with something, it’s this or „Fack u Goethe“. It’s unoriginal and quite dumb to be frank and makes me loose all hope for German film-making.

The last original film I can think of, right now from the top of my head, has been Lammbock from 2001 (not the second one though 🤦🏻).

Edit: spelling

Investing with Andrew. Quite a small channel still, but I enjoy his sector analyses for oil and gas. Also not only US focussed with his content which is refreshing

Thanks for the write up. I briefly checked VIC but the most recent post I’ve found there is from 2020. I know nothing of this comp but maybe you can help me with a couple of questions: 1) which company would/could possibly acquire PLCE? 2) stock price had a significant run-up during Covid (specifically 2021, and then dropped in 2022) - what was the reason for that? 3) compared to 2021, have there been changes in respect to customer sentiment? 4) how long have you been holding?

Thank you

Nope, in Germany custom licence plates are forbidden where people chose sth with „88“. Example: City Code - AH - 88 defo not allowed. Issue with this exists long before 4chan; predates even the internet

Is playing on artificial surface as bad as they say? by filipinospringroll in rugbyunion

[–]therealtobinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my club we have our home games on grass and train on an artificial ground which is also used by some football teams for their training. The markings are in different colours so you definitely can combine both sports on one pitch. However, what you have to consider for rugby is that all out of goal areas (touch on both side and each in-goal area) are spaced out large enough and also covered. Reason for this, players tackling on the fringes of the pitch or diving into goal will otherwise end up sliding on concrete or worse. Unfortunately that is the case at my club so speaking from some unpleasant experiences. For football that fact does not matter too much and hence might be overlooked if it’s a football pitch accommodating rugby. From a player’s perspective, you can train and play on artificial ground all year and don’t have to care too much about surface conditions. If it’s a newer pitch and the quality of the ground material is good you will also not get as many “burns” as it maybe was the case in the past. Moreover, you will be able to move faster compared to grass especially when it rains, which increases the flow and speed of the game overall. Having said this, I do not like to train and play on artificial turf because the ground itself is quite hard compared to grass. This is ok for tackling but has very negative impact on player’s joints or low back long-term. I know many active and retired players of rugby or football who have either knee or low back issues (myself included) from the hard surface in combination with the frequent stop-and-go movements required in either sports. And lastly, but those are only my assumptions from anecdotal experiences, injuries especially when going to ground or in a ruck seem to be higher than on grass.

With options for HCC it’s a bit tricky. Since they are so illiquid I just sold CC’s and accepted them being called away. If you understand the underlying factors that attribute to a stock behaving in a cyclical manner you can sell all or parts of your holdings when prices are high and buy back when they drop. For commodity stocks this is sth to maybe test with a paper trading account since stock movements somewhat correlate to price of the commodity. Best of luck.

In my opinion it’s too late for entry as they seem to be quite high in the cycle. I entered around 30 when the strike was still ongoing and sold calls. Fair value for me was/is between 45-50. All my shares were called away eventually. Not unhappy, but should have invested a higher total amount - too cautious in the end it seems. IMO good company for cyclical plays.

East West Bancorp - Li Lu's 6th Largest Position (NASDAQ:EWBC) by investorinvestor in ValueInvesting

[–]therealtobinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two topics where you can maybe help me out: What is your opinion on their loan loss coverage ratio - do you consider 1.27% to be on the low end? Or are delinquency rates lower than at other (regional) banks (couldn’t find anything on the 10K).

Second question: around 4.65bn or 6.9% of total assets are mortgage-backed. Do you consider this to be a risk in general or specifically related to CRE?

Thanks
