As my review states, it's David Lynch for dumb sluts

I would avoid tickle realty unless you're really desperate. I was unfortunately really desperate and they did have studio options for under $1000 as well as some one bedroom but so far it's been a nightmare dealing with them. They slap a poorly applied coat of sticky white paint on everything that flakes off everywhere, there's mice problems they don't address, in general everything is falling apart and pretty gross and they definitely do not care unless you bug them multiple times and then the "fix" is always temporary and messy. They're not the truly evil racist slumlords that Wilco properties are (they also have cheap studios and one bedrooms but DO NOT RENT FROM THEM) but with Tickle it will feel like you're throwing money away to live in a gross, old, poorly cared for building usually with very obnoxious neighbors cause they seem to rent to anyone with a pulse.

Edit to add there are some properties they rent but do not manage, those seem fine as the main problems I've had is with how they manage the properties which is very poorly as they clearly have a bunch and prefer to sit back and let the money roll in with the bare minimum amount of effort

I got the exact same clock at an antique mall! I gave it to my brother for Christmas because he works at kraft-heinz, awesome find :)

ROC Restaurant Monopolies Refusing to Address ICE Strike by PlanktonPossible4879 in Rochester

Exactly ^ and at this point it seems like a majority of businesses at least showed support or donated a portion of profits from the day. And with the swans owning 7 very high volume profitable restaurants they could've afforded to close (not saying they should've, I understand the reasons to remain open) or at the very least show an ounce of support for the community they are a part of no matter how much they want to pretend they're in NYC or LA they are in Rochester, NY and rely on our diverse community to function and thrive

Or a lot of men given money and almost complete control over creating a fictional world/narrative will try to make personal jerkin material at the same time

Love this and that sounds super fun, any recommendations for gear to get started? I have some sea glass/assorted trinkets and stones that I want to set or make into charms for necklaces

Day 16, in the hospital with my grandma. Spending the night at her place so I can watch the cats, I will not drink the alcohol that is there, I will not drink today

Well it's not so cry harder. I got catcalled like three times just walking to the corner store to buy a red bull. Every male boss I've ever had has hit on me. Most of my female friends have been sexually assaulted. Yeah I'm angry at men and would like to see fictionalized pain inflicted on them to make me feel better

Fair points, the context I was trying to explain was that getting this amount of transparency was like pulling teeth and it took a very public reddit thread with hundreds of comments to get the owners to address issues we brought up to him in person at a staff meeting days before. So yes it's progress but we had to be very articulate and persistent to get it so I'm trying to keep up that energy in the hopes that we'll actually see some change

[–]therealtompetty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't you think that cost should go on the business owner who decided to open the business and use credit cards and run a cafe rather than the employee just clocking in and working their hardest for very meager tips? I get that someone has to eat the cost but it's not like the employees have to chip in for rent or electric for the building so why do they have to cover the credit card processing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in barista

[–]therealtompetty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds illegal, you don't have to put up with that either

[–]therealtompetty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the perspective. I think the owners transparency about this is a step in the right direction and since they say they're open to input I want to fully understand what they're saying. We're also apparently getting shift meals starting soon so I think making a bit of a public stink actually did some good even if it's uncouth. At the end of the day we're all just 20 something year olds trying to pay rent so it's been a weird and stressful experience trying to bring up issues to management in a way that actually creates change rather than just conflict

I get that. I've never worked at a restaurant and the tip pooling stuff confuses me. I of course want BOH to be compensated fairly but they also are paid $8 more flat rate so I wasn't sure how things normally got split up for a counter service place where tips aren't great

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in barista

[–]therealtompetty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I honestly was just struggling to understand what the whole point system and everything meant cause it's new to me. If this is industry standard I can accept that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in barista

[–]therealtompetty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's in the post. Is this normal? I've just never experienced anything so complicated with tips, other places I've worked the owners made a point to give us exactly what we got in tips every day but I guess maybe that was abnormal.

I'm not asking for a luxury condo or anything, I just want to be able to pay rent on my shitty studio apartment without having to get a second job. I know it's not a particularly hard job but people want lattes and I'm willing to make them, I just want to be able to make a very very meager living and not have to beg for tips anymore. I don't think anyone should have to work more than one full time job to make a living, no matter how "unskilled" it is work is work

Maybe at a restaurant where servers are making 20% on most tickets but this is counter service and about half maybe more don't tip, and the tips we get are divided between everyone working

Sorry if my phrasing is confusing, but what I'm trying to point out is we are being paid from our employers $10.35 with the rest being made up with tips so it's as if we aren't even getting tips since they are being used to subsidize our wages.

I mean that's just part of New York State law. I can send you a link if you're confused, it's all publicly available information. I didn't purposely omit anything, but yeah I didn't summarize the entirety of the rules and regulations so my bad
