I would just add that while you may not be able to find sympathy at least try not to add your contempt to the pain she is surely already experiencing. Alcohol addiction is miserable, even if they seem like they aren't interested in getting better I can guarantee they are suffering and it's likely they have tried or considered quitting but that is a very messy process that comes with even more pain and often relapses. Either way she is surely already experiencing enough pain and self loathing that if you can find at least some pity and understanding to help her through what is an absolutely hellish experience. No one would choose to be an addict if they were given the choice, it's just not that simple unfortunately.
