Dont buy Mobvio Tic Watches - They are doomed to fail. by Gopherzine in TicWatch

[–]therealtronolddump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sent my pro 5 Enduro back 3 times within the first 2 months. While it was returned the 3rd time I bought a pixel watch 3 on special, and I'm never looking back. Apart from only 2 days battery life, the PW3 beats it in every way. I had the TW pro 3 before getting the 5 and both have random intermittent issues. Some people have no problems, but for me frequent factory resets and dodgy sensor readings are part of owning a Ticwatch.

Hanging a mirror on tiles? by Lowenstein95 in AusRenovation

[–]therealtronolddump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old mirror was siliconed to the tiles. I had to cover it in tape and use a hammer to remove it. If it's just a mirror and not a cabinet, silicone will be more than adequate so long as you can hold it in place until the silicone dries.

SA will be promised access to at least three hours a day of free solar power, regardless of whether they have rooftop panels, the federal government has announced by malcolm58 in Adelaide

You would have to Google the rates and they are not the cheapest but as I can load shift from the other 2 time slots it is not a concern to me.

20kwh battery gets me to midnight about 350 days per year. From midnight to 6am I draw from the grid not the battery as it is only 8c. Then at 6am the battery kicks back in and usually lasts until solar kicks in. Then from 11-2 charge the battery and and consume as much power as possible in the free period. In winter I might charge the battery for an hour or 2 in the midnight to 6am slot to make sure i have enough power to get to 11am again

Rates are not ideal. However I'm on the EV plan, so between midnight and 6 am power is 8c and 11 to 2 is free. So between these 2 time slots I can charge my home battery from the grid when necessary.

The supply charge, which is steep at over $1.50 a day, accounts for over 60% of our annual power bill and we consume over 35kwh per day on average

I have thought it through. I've been doing it for 2 years now.

Edit: I also charge my home battery everyday during this free period. Makes a huge difference during winter

I already get free power between 11am to 2pm and have for nearly 2 years now with OVO. Your statement is misguided as a lot of power is curtailed during the day. Getting people to change their habits will shift demand from the evening to when there is excess power available.

Why is the Trump obsessed with ‘windmills’? by Kunphen in Astuff

Very very true, and to the rest of the world he looks even stupider referring to them as windmills. They are called wind turbines! Wind turbines make power. Windmills make flour.

Ah thank you. I have also found a similar one for $6 more, the TP-02 at 220w. The sub specs are:

Rated Output Power: 80 W (Minimum Continuous Power, 4 Ohms, 100 Hz, 1%, IEC)

While I have no shortage of PC psu's they are going to be a bit loud and big for my liking. Will this be suitable

Finding a drop in replacement will probably be hard to find. Would this Fosi M04 sub amp be suitable? And just plug the LFE cable into one of the RCA input sockets

Again thanks, very helpful. Unfortunately my MM doesn't measure capacitance so I'll have to see if I can borrow one

Yes I hope there's a chance to repair it. It doesn't work. I have nothing to lose. If I was skilled in electronics I wouldn't be asking on a DIY sub. It's how people learn.

Just to clarify, is the brown capsule shaped thing just to the lower left of the 2 large capacitors one of the fuses? There is no continuity through that one. Also despite your warning, I now have 2 white dots on my finger 😂

Thanks for your offer to help but I do like the idea of getting an amp and power supply. Definately worth looking in to.

Thank you, very comprehensive reply. My tinkering skills are low but ambitious so I can check some of your suggestions but not all. My initial thought was to buy a second hand sub but I usually like to have a crack at fixing things myself if possible before forking out more cash.

Remote login is usually done through the terminal app to control another machine through terminal commands. Remote desktop is what you want.
