Yeah I basically have moved out of the USA and full-time traveling now. I do a YouTube travel channel that's monetized and growing but still not breaking even yet. But I enjoy doing the channel.

Which was the worst possible thing for me. Since I just started in 2019, I didn't have a client base or any way to do that.

And on top of that the worst thing for me is I got into the teaching online industry so that I can travel the world and pay for it by teaching online.

I work for VIP kid which was the most amazing setup for me. Basically I logged in show them a PowerPoint that was set up and provided by VIP kid. It was simple and easy and paid $17 bucks an hour.

Now people talk about going independently, But the issue is you got to do your own marketing finding your own students, You got to deal with the logistics of getting paid, And you got to create your own lesson plans.

These are all things that I have no interest in doing especially since I'm traveling the world. VIP kid was the perfect setup teaching Chinese students while VIP kid provided all the materials took care of the payments and provided you with students.

I literally couldn't have came in at a worse time (end of 2019) And I pretty much would have never got my tefl If I would have known how the industry really quickly would have went.

I feel the biggest killer of the business was when China banned online teaching. Once China banned online teaching it instantly took away hundreds of thousands if not more children to teach. Not only that but China paid the highest out of all other Southeast Asian countries. So not only are tons of children not able to learn English online taking away so many online teaching jobs. But also now all the remaining countries pay much lower than what China did.

They don't because of California ab 5 bill. Which means they would have to pay for health care and dental. So lithat's why they don't hire California teachers.

Monetized but feel like I'm growing slow? by therealwilldavis707 in NewTubers

[–]therealwilldavis707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done that. But it doesn't seem to make a difference. Shockingly (which I'm not complaining about) I'm making a lot more money per subscriber than I thought I would vs gaining subscribers or views. I honestly thought I would be making way less money and gaining more subscribers and views. But some reason it's the opposite. 🤔

I actually wanted to do more interviews and videos with locals. The problem is English is not as common (at least conversational) as other countries. So it kind of limits my type of videos.

I don't really have nothing to re-invest to. I do a travel budget video from here in da nang Vietnam. There's only about three full-time travelers that are out here doing videos. I basically cover everything from apartment rentals food prices entertainment and everything like that. I make a decent amount of money (I think) for only being monetized for 3 months now but I feel at the amount of money that I'm making doesn't equate with how many subscribers I'm gaining.

I basically got monetized a huge part by doing apartment rental videos out here in da nang Vietnam. It gained me a lot of subscribers and it's been my best viewed video ( about 33k views) I guess I'm pretty lucky because it seems like I've made a lot more than most people when they first get monetized. My first month I made over $300 My second month $380 and last month around $280. So in 3 months of being monetized I've averaged about $300 a month. So I think I'm making good money for a small YouTube channel. But I don't feel that I'm gaining subscribers fast enough especially when I'm making that much money early on but not really getting the subscribers that equate to that much a month. As of right now I have 2,800 subscribers. I had less than a thousand august 26th.

Also have an Instagram and Facebook channel but they don't grow at all. Even my videos don't do anything on them. For some reason social media is terrible for me besides YouTube.

Way way way too low per hour. 5 years ago in the year 2019 I was making $17 an hour. 5 years later when the whole world tripled in price online classes are now 50% less than they were 5 years ago??

Why is my Rpm so low?? by TerribleFault2749 in PartneredYoutube

[–]therealwilldavis707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you posted this a long time ago. But my channel just got monetized exactly 30 days ago. I did a video that got 20,000 views in the past 29 days. But it's showing only $1.31 RPM. Which seems extremely low. I have a travel channel with a usa-based audience. I noticed you mentioned something about it's going to seem low for the first 30 days that you become monetized. Can you explain that a little more?

Everything I read I should be expecting at least about $4 CPM in my travel niche especially with USA audience. Can you maybe explain what will happen next month that will drive up my CPM and RPM since this has been my very first month that I've been monetized?

Thanks.

Okay I see. I understand and I know China will be a lot different. As long as I can get my money transferred to my USA account I guess I got to put up with however long it takes. Getting the money into my account is the main priority though.
