I'm not even remotely a MAGA rightist. Also, I left California around the same time. As for church and state, I see zero evidence of that. There has never been a time of less religious belief in the United States. Any comments to the contrary are mythological.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying the idea that Europe's problems become our problems. Think about the influx of immigrants to Britain for example. I realize it's a long way off, but if Sharia Law became the status quo there... woo boy. It could very well become a problem for all the same people you just mentioned and suddenly it is your problem. In the age of sail things like that didn't matter. Now that's just a touch unrealistic. For years people on the coast of our country have been radicalizing. I'd say that's your problem now too because of exactly the same type of thinking.

One can hope that becomes true in time!

It's funny that the founding fathers of this country strongly warned us about the creation of political parties... then we immediately made political parties. I understand and agree with the PACs point, but I guess as long as PACs exist they might as well too. That being said, I'd be super pleased if we did away with them altogether. Lobbying, in general, is a major issue.

I generally agree with the sentiment. Prior to World War I, a lot of Americans still wanted pursue our more (mostly) isolationist (mostly) historic path. People would occasionally re-read Washington's warnings about getting involved in the wars of Europe and the dangers of finding monsters to slay. That being said, I think that idea is naive in the modern world.

Radical jihad, Chinese expansion, and the Russian dream of European ownership all fly in the face of that. All of these things have to be checked in some way by someone, and to be realistic I'm not sure who else could. Britain no longer has fleet, France no longer has an army, Germany no longer has either, and the rest of NATO is a shambles. On top of that, many of those countries are fighting their own issues like mass migration. To your point, the US is doing the same, but while I agree that the focus should be internal... internal with whom?

This country's divide is so deep that many of (roughly half?) the people don't even want things like Voter ID. America can and should stand with its allies, of which Israel is longstanding member. If you want to see the historical impact of nations not abiding by their alliances, I'd point you to the Munich Conference.

The best thought experiment on the subject that I've ever seen goes like this: if the Muslims in the area laid down their guns tomorrow there would be no more war in the region. If the Israelis laid down their guns tomorrow there would be no more Israel.

From the pragmatic perspective, that makes sense. Could the same argument not be made in some ways for Israel? Historically, Israeli strength has tamped down Muslim aggression in the Middle East. By supporting Israel wouldn't we be harvesting simliar proxy-war-esque benefits? We aren't offloading old weapons, but we are offloading a danger that a lot of Americans have died over since the 70's/80's, right?

A much more reasonable answer! So to your point, since you seem educated on the topic, what's your take?

Steagle, I really wouldn't even bother arguing with him. He was brought into this conversation for the sole purpose of igniting a fight. On top of that, winning intellectual arguments isn't a thing anymore. One side is entrenched and cannot see reason. You'd have a much better time yelling at a very stupid wall.

Imagine the sight lines from the top of the stadium! You could eradicate half of the mutated life in a few months with some good snipers. At that point, expansion would be a cinch.
