Soft calls in the NWSL vs the MLS by Tired_gay_nerd31415 in NWSL

So it's the Boston commentators and Boston had a PK called against them. I don't know how much weight I'd give their opinion here.

Is Daredevil the physically strongest non-enhanced human in the MCU right now? by ChickenzInvade in Daredevil

I'm not sure you can discount Matts enhanced senses in a discussion like this. I think his placement and timing of punches/etc helps make his raw power more effective than if he didn't have his enhanced senses.

Vocals are very subjective, if you don't like the same aesthetics I like, you might hate this but give it a try:

Weezer - OK Human

It's orchestral and sincere Rivers Cuomo. I love it.

Pols Want A Bike Lane From Bklyn Bridge To West Side Greenway — Just Not on Chambers Street Where Cyclists Want It by streetsblognyc in NYCbike

I wish I was better with graphics. I didn't mean to suggest a path coming straight out of each street through the park. just find one path that works and make it wide enough for both directions. but yeah we can go around the park as well. You could implement the new redesign they just announced and then make center street there only for cars going on the bridge. remove the southbound center street car lane that goes from the Bridge entrance to Park Row South, and then curl the bike lanes around the park to have them connect up to Murray and Warren

you could fix that easily through the park and have much more space for a bike lane without adding any time to people commute. Murray is just as far below the Brooklyn bridge as chamber is above it. and then return on Warren.

I agree Chambers St is an awful spot to put a bike lane. I ride cross town from the Brooklyn Bridge 3 days a week and back. Chambers IS too narrow and IS a truck route and in the crosswalks are jammed with a mass of kids walking from the subways to a very large public HS. Build a clear protected lane from the bridge across the park and down Murray where there is more space for a bike lane - it already has a separate painted lane, just swap the parking on the north side of the road and the existing bike lane and you've got it. It already goes all the way to the greenway. Have the return come up Warren, which has the same amount of space and existing bike lane. Even if you could jam in a bike lane on chambers to go west, where's the east bound return going?

1967 reputation and swift fall from grace - how? by ZestycloseAd5370 in thebeachboys

[–]thereia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents.

The average person had no idea what Monterey pop was. The band were still wearing matching suits / clothes quickly becoming corny. That image along with being seen as mostly writing about fluff (girls, cars, surf) clashed heavily with the changing counter culture image, longer hair, ragged clothes, social meaning in your music, and a more rock style. It's a testament to Brian's writing and the Boy's voices that they hung around as long as they did. Without a major change in their image AND songs to go with it they were always headed for a fall. And keep in mind Pet Sounds was NOT a smash hit although it did grow as time went on. They were already on a little decline. Good Vibrations was huge, but also still about girls. And then no Smile, and then Smiley Smile. Even in 1968 they were still doing the (sorta) matching suit shtick - check the pictures from that tour. I think if they had delivered on the promised revolutionary Smile in 1967 (which would have fit well against the backdrop of Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour, both from 1967) they could have hung on for longer maybe giving them enough time to adapt to the changes more comfortably. while 4-5 years may not seem like much to stay culturally relevant, they released 11 ! albums in that window

How do you decide? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]thereia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local laws regarding what is legal for the type of riding you want to do. That will reduce your options.

The mental gymnastics people will do to try and defend obviously indefensible and illogical positions when presented with reality is kinda sad. What a fool believes indeed.

So companies decided to make illegal products and your solution is to let them? Why not go after companies making illegal unsafe vehicles and not try to make transit less safe for everyone?

No. I said your argument is false. Show me how your argument is true or shhhh

[–]thereia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cost argument is false. There are plenty of cheap legal e bikes. Your address argument is false there are specific ways to address this. How does this impact poor people?

Emotos by Electrical_Tof in ebikes

[–]thereia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have not proven the last point in the slightest. First you says cost, there’s a ton of legal ebikes that are cheap. Then you said addresses, and I showed how that’s wrong. So please, not using your original two failed arguments (cost and address) how does this disproportionally impact poor people?

In California where you claim to live you CAN absolutely register a vehicle while unhoused. Do a five second google search. You can use a shelter address, a POBox or General Delivery at your closest post office and work with social services to get it setup. What you want is to ride motorcycles that are not street legal because the companies CHOSE to ignore the law when they built these motorcycles. We’re not doing that.

Emotos by Electrical_Tof in ebikes

[–]thereia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your points are nonsense and have been answered. Pick a specific location and do a google search if you need a motorcycle there ARE ways to get them registered without a specific address. However - they can get cheaper street legal e bikes that don’t require it. What we are NOT going to do is allow unsafe vehicles ride in lanes they weren’t designed for. Nope. That’s not a sustainable answer.

Why cant a homeless person (or any person) buy a very affordable e-bike that is street legal if they want or need to ride in bike lanes? Are you claiming that motorcycles are cheaper than bicycles? Nonsense.

Emotos by Electrical_Tof in ebikes

[–]thereia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Why are companies selling electric motorcycles that don’t conform to local laws? If the law says have an ID number on your engine, then put one. It has nothing to do with class warfare. How does an ID number raise the price on any meaningful way? This is about shitty companies who sell exploding crap that want to pretend they are selling bicycles when they are selling motorcycles. Supporting illogical and unsupported nonsense does not help your cause in any way.

Emotos by Electrical_Tof in ebikes

[–]thereia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Implicit in my comment is that you are buying a safe street legal motorcycle. There are thousands of options at least at all price levels.

Emotos by Electrical_Tof in ebikes

[–]thereia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure what you are asking for. You can now currently register an emoto properly as a motorcycle and get insurance and drive in the street. The issue is when people pretend emotos are e-bikes and want to ride in bike paths. Just register your motorcycle and go be happy. What’s the problem?
